Week-End Tit-bits

Weekly Magazines

This week Rajini is featuring in all top 3 tamil weekly magazines. Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam & Kungumam. In Ananda Vikatan, it's a travelogue of his trip to Babaji caves. The cover story is in a series & more are yet to come. This week in the cover story three things were good. One is a short story that Rajini likes the most. The story is, once a king wanted to give a gift to god, that god doesn't have with him. But he thinks that everything in the world is his make. Then, what gift can a man give to god. Finally, he finds one that god doesn't have. It's ignorance that we human beings have. The king is kamban.

Second is Rajini when asked about his fans. He says that he keeps his fans at mother's place. Mother gives many things to her child. But the child gives back only a smile which gives the mother immense pleasure & happiness. Basha, Padayappa, Chandramukhi are those smiles that he gave back to his fans. The third one is Rajini recollects once when Sujatha asks him that he has won great heights. When he looks back, to what he would attribute his success. Whether it is god's blessings, talent, luck or hard work? Rajini replies as its all gods blessings. Without his blessing he couldn't come up this big. But as Sivajirao when he left his job & searched for acting opportunities in Chennai, they were his constant tries. Whenever he gets a chance, he tried to prove it. This was his hard work. The dream he always has that one day he would win. This was his confidence & belief. When he tried to entertain the people, it his talent.

In Kumudam he has given exclusive interview. In the interview he speaks about the recent success of Chandramukhi, his plans for next movie & recollects his past. One thing stuck in my mind. The same Rajini after Baba was totally disappeared from media. Gossips about him were there. Now he is back for his second innings. Let him do great films & exhibit fully the actor in him.

Movies

Arunachalam

The movie does not have very strong storyline. But still the screenplay was good enough to keep up the pace & of course Rajini, the man who droved the entire film single handedly. The movie starts in village base & moves to city. When he says, "En nanbargal ellarryum kizha vitturuken. Mavane ne ethachu galata panna kizha vitta nanbargal ellarayum mela vitrven" shines well in comedy. Senthil, Janakarj also had supported well. The movie is a good entertainer. Rajini was too good when he says "Varata..." & also to Jayshankar "Meenakshi import & export....One of the big business man Mr.Vedachalam. Avaraoda ore payan Nan than". The dual Rajini who comes as his father for 15 minutes fills our mind.

Arindum Ariyamalum

The movie is about expressing the relational bonding between a father, who is a local don & his son who is a student. PrakashRaj, Arya, Navdeep, "Fivestar" Krishna are the casts, directed by Vishnuvardhan. The movie screenplay is excellent. Lots of unexpected twists is the key point in the screenplay. A special mention has to be made to Arya. He has done excellently in his Chennai based dialogue deliveries. The body language & his face expressions are good. If he can improvise the dance movements, then he has a long way in Kollywood. Prakash raj as expected steals the show in most of the scenes. In the scenes, where he expresses his affection to his son were applausive. Navdeep, the hero has done a good job. He fits into the character & never overdosed it. "Fivestar" Krishna fills the comedy track & never let down the director for his selection. The music is scored by Yuvan Shankar. The background scores are good & three songs were appreciable. It's a good movie to watch & a summer entertainer.

Thalapathy

Should I say anything about this movie? Simply superb that's it...

You might be wondering, Ennda intha postla Rajini factor is more. Illapa sathiyama namma media fulla avruthan irukaru. TV channels telecast at least one of his movies as week-end specials. Nan enna panrathu?

Reminisce

In the film Mudalvan, the hero's father would say "Vazhkailium VCR madhiri oru rewind button irundhal evalavo nalla irukum". We in this fast pace world are too busy. We do not provide sufficient time for ourself. Almost everyone have aspirations & work towards that to grow more. But in this period of growing, we sometimes lose our own nature. When someone gets a chance of seeing others doing what they like too or seeing things that they have done in their past, they relish. You might be wondering ennada Mudalvan dialoguekum intha lineskum enna relation. Coming..Coming..!

Last week after a long day at office, got to take my sister's son to my home for his weekend mela. Sometimes, I used to speak with him about intellectual stuff. So that he will get to know some new things & think me as brilliant guy [Ha..Ha..]. During our ride, I was explaining him about gravitational force & how it works [Arambichutayan...Arambichutan!]. I was explaining him from what is force & slowly what is gravitational force. The moment I said about it, he immediately looked back & asked me then how do airplane fly? The response was quick & valid. Now days these children are very sharp [Grr....]. Then, I told him the reason [Eppa neenga ellam enna reason kekathinga..]. On the way he used to comment on the things that he sees in his own way. I was enjoying the ride with him at the same time recollecting my past. After going home he told his grandmother "intha mama color colora reel vedran". I just started laughing.

I had this particular thought flashing, during our childhood days we did not have all these grown up nut things. Like tensions, frustrations, jealous, worries... I know its part of life. But as in the above Mudalvan dialogue if we can do then it's a great pleasure for each one. Do you agree with me or not?

Appa! Evelavu characters [not alphabets] with so many complications of relationships. This confusion stayed very long to me after seeing the movie Parthaley Paravasam in television recently. I swear I need to first congratulate & ask a question to Mr.Balachander how can he [only] manage with so much complex relationship screenplay. For me writing the above paragraph got me into obscure mind. Hats off to him. The only one jeevan who has done a great job in the movie is A.R.Rehman. But a single person success cannot bring glory to a work which needs team success. After watching the movie I got one thing in my mind that has come out as the title of this post ;-(
