Yesterday, I went to some part of India & came back in couple of hours. Hey, surprised!! I went to Devon Street in Chicago. It can be called as Asian market place. I was able to see lot of Indian, Pakistan & some European shops. My friends have said before several times when I was here, that Devon Street is like our Indian market place. I felt like it’s almost like our T.Nagar shopping area but bit mixed up with other markets & less crowded.
Hooooo.. Just roamed in those streets & entered into most of the shops & did the so called Window shopping. I was enjoying myself, the pirated version of Indian market inch by inch. I was able to pick lots of emundi bagunara, oye kesa hai & some ennanga nalla irukeengala. After tiresome roaming, went into an Indian chat corner. Had nice bhels & samosa. Enjoyed the Indian chats after a break.
I wanted to drink water, but there wasn't a cup around. So just called a person & asked him for water cup. He just showed me the way again to the water area. I said cup…cup loudly again. But he showed me the same way again. I thought he doesn’t understand my language. So I showed him all Mundram perai acting to get a cup. Finally, he came along & showed me a hollow steel kind of pipe holding cups & fixed to the wall. I was bit embarrassed & cursed myself for my ignorance. With guilt feeling took the cup to drink.
It was time to leave, so started moving towards the parking lot. I was able to see some people begging for $. I haven't seen any one as such till now. Something itched me inside my mind, when I was leaving the place.
(P.S. :- Oruthar nala ennakulla irukum thamizh kalainyan alert agitu varaan. Amam soliputten!!)

Hey if you are a bachelor & do not know the ABCD of cooking & had to stay for sometime in US & you are pure vegetarian & come from southern part of Tamilnadu & have 4 foot long of tongue [Naaku naalu moyam pa] & can't eat main course without proper side dish, here is a vara prasadam. Appa how many & clauses in the before sentence, thalai ellam suthuthu.
Might be it had been for long time, but I started using recently. It’s very simple to prepare this ready made masala dosai. Addl. piece is it comes with the coconut chutney :-). Just need to work for 5 minutes on microwave [each item a minute including the chutney], hot 4 masala dosai with getty chutney is ready for your munch. Hmm…enjoy the food.
Rush in to your nearest Indian stores. Ennapa ithu sale pitch in madhiri iruku!!
(P.S.:- Ennada ivan Suda Suda Bajji kran, ippa Masala Dosai kranu thonuthu illa, ennapa panrathu nammalukum Naaku naalu moyam pa :-) )

Due to heavy pressure from many of narsidudes' global audience [joke of the year ;-)], he has switched over to a different background color. Hope it suits & liked by the readers.
Ennapa Panrathu Makkal Theerpae Magesan Theerupu!!

You would be wondering for the title. Bajji after cooking, immediately when you have with chutney with the hot smoke moving around it, that too in this type of climate in Chicago. Hmm..Sorgam inga thaan. Similarly, just now I watched Ponniyin Selvan & writing this post. Just to add masala, hooked up this title.
The movie Ponniyin Selvan has the ingredients of Ravi Krishna, Gopika, Praksh Raj, Revathy, music by Vidhyasagar and directed by Radha Mohan. The movie is a soft drama, which I personally enjoyed. The movie is bit slow at times but the director has managed to play well & make the audience to feel "what next?” There are 2 fights & one song, which completely do not fit in the movie. But the director is not to be blamed. Truly you can see it was the pressure on him to add the commercial items. Except these, the movie is natural & very soft. It’s a movie which you can watch once at leisure.
Radha Mohan after an appreciable debut knock in Azhagiya Theeyae has once again proved his way of story telling. There are certain places where you tend to be reckless. But still the movie makes the audience to sit & watch for the next sequence. Radha Mohan can fasten up his screen play with more interesting sequences in his upcoming projects & would definitely have a clear way ahead.
Ravi Krishna has done his role quite well. But still he has to improve a lot in his body movements. He seems to be very stiff when walking & dancing. The scope for him in the movie is huge & could have utilized even better. But still one cannot completely ignore his contributions. Lot of home work is to be done when given such a character. Since, the movie completely revolves on him.
Gopika, what should I say about her? Just I was watching her with eyes wide-wide open. She is pretty & looks cute in the movie. For the given character she has performed well & clearly understood her boundaries. She is improving day by day. Do you think, I was mentioning here about her acting? After watching her in “Kana Kanden”, I am watching her in this movie. I did not have much idea when she acted in “Biograph sorry Autograph”. Then in “4 Students”, I noticed that she dances well in the famous Jassie Gifts' "Lajja vathiye". In “Kana kanden” she improved in her way of acting. Here she has improved her face value. Like Bharathiraja says in his intro speech of his movies, I can say "En keralathu payingeeleye!" I can understand dudes what you think. Only 4 lines are written about the hero but for heroine this many lines :-) Kanna "What you think is not what you get !!"
Prakash Raj, I think due to personal relationship with the director, he has accepted to do the role. I should say he had a better performing role in “Azhagiya Theeyae”.
Revathy & other crew have performed well as per their characterization. Music by Vidhayasagar, I am not very sure that he has given the same amount of his work in this movie as he did in Chandramukhi. I can hear some of the songs as heard some where before. Still not a bad piece from him.
A movie you can enjoy with your family. A soft, sweet & bit slow moving drama. Another good one from Radha Mohan.

Thappe Illai Thotuko Thappe Illai
ThAli ninna Vazhkaiyil Uppae Illai...
This song is from Mazhai, music rendered by Devi Sri Prasad. Am not going to dwell into the music of this song. Very much amazed by the gracious voice of SPB. This man has been singing all along all variety of songs till now. Still his magnifying voice is amazing. He is a legend & generations will remember his voice. His voice itself is like music.
That too from bottom of his throat when he starts the song ayyyye...oh my god I start to move here & there. His voice suits for yesteryears & today’s ‘heroes' of all languages. Especially an intro song with his fabulous voice for Rajini adds what is needed. I am truly surprised with the gods' gift to him. Long live SPB & continue his voice all along. Cheers :-) ayyyye..Thappe Illai Thotuko Thappe Illai!

Recently, I watched Ghilli starring Vijay, Prakash raj, Trisha & others, directed by Dharani. After watching the movie 4 things stayed in my mind. Vijays' action, Prakash rajs' performance, Vidhyasagars' Music & Dharanis' fast paced screen play. The fourth part leads me to scribble this post.
Director Dharani is known for his racy screenplay & commercial films. He has directed till now 4 movies Ethirium Pudhirum, Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli. The last 3 were super hits in kollywood. Though he has directed only 4 movies till now, he has gained a virtuous name in the list of tamil directors. The first movie Etirium Pudhirum did not go that well at box-office. The next one Dhill was a huge success & a good break for Vikram too after his career break movie Sethu.
If you look closer at his movies the portrayal of his hero would be very simple. The hero would be a normal guy & would do usual activities as any common man does. But the villain would be a strong & powerful person. When this mediocre hero dashes with the gigantic villains, the hero becomes even more powerful. This bottom line he has carried over all through his movies. Apart from this, the intelligent & fast paced screenplay adds the perfect combo for his films. In most of the tamil movies the hero clashes head-to-head with the villain gang with a big fight. But Dharani way of telling this is different. His hero uses clever ideas to attack the villain. This logical screen play has been one of the important part in his movies & has proved worthy for him. If you see in Dhill, the hero uses some common sense to make the villain fall. Similarly in Dhool & Ghilli, the way hero handles the villain is different & smart way of attacking. Though some places the logic slips but it works.
He also keeps good screen shots & nice back drop for needed scenes. Adding to this base he sums up with good comedy scenes, catchy songs & all other commercial items to make the film a grand finale. The comedy sequences in Dhill, Dhool & Ghilli are known & stays till now. Songs in his movies are mostly catchy & the way he projects altogether makes even better. With these vital things he adds the commercial items & provides the audience a perfect masala meal. This formula of Dharani had worked for him till now & will make him stay in the tamil film arena for more time.
Currently, he is directing a telugu movie Bhangaram starring Pavan Kalyan and produced by A.M.Ratnam. Like to see Dharani back soon to tamil cinema & give another commercial speedy masterpiece movie.

This particular song from Gajini, tops the list of my choice in recent times. I used to hear the "Thottu Thottu ennai Vetru-kali mannai Sirpamaaga..." from Kadhal "N" number of times. This song from Gajini like a maniac I hear daily many times repeatedly. I don't know how to express why I like these...But I enjoy a lot when I hear it. That's the magic music..hmm..hmm.
