The Departed

Every Friday we all get this weekend mood. Similarly I get the night show movie mood on Fridays. This happens almost all the weekends, whether in U.S or India, the urge is same. It doesn’t subside due to the geographical differences. But due to the tour schedules I had couple of weeks before; I did not visit the theatre for a month. The irony is, mostly alternate days I would be watching movies in DVD, still watching in the theatre has a special interest in me.

This week I went for “The Departed”, though the “Guardian” was hitching in the back of the mind. The movie crewed with few top guns like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg …. The movie was also rated good at rottentomatoes as 95-92%. The story is about two moles swapped into the two opposite gangs. One is the cop gang and another is the underworld gang. What happens to two and when each one has to identify who they are is the main theme, around which the interesting play was built. Decaprio has done excellently his role with his vivid facial reactions on tensed situations and during the scenes where the gang leader questions him for his identity. Damon too has done his role but sometimes we get a feeling in his expressions that he is doing his debut film. The main hero to be said is Jack Nicholson who has nearly taken the complete movie under his flamboyant acting. Overall the movie is good to watch and has good nail biting sequences.

On an unrelated side note watched the original Telugu version of Vijay upcoming movie Pokiri. I assume that it’s going to be a massive hit and the ardent fans of Vijay are going to relish every inch of the movie. Mahesh Babu is the hero and seems to be a Telugu version of Vijay himself .The main question is how our Prabhu Deva who is directing the Tamil version is going to maintain the tempo similar to its original version. The comedy is hopeless in the Telugu version and wish it would rectified in the remake. If it’s going to be scene by scene remake then its one more movie for Vijay which is going to run for 100 miles. Naaku Telungu Telusu Babu...
