Crunch

The last two movies watched at this year end is "Polladhavan" and "I am Legend". Both the movies were satisfactory though "I am Legend" wasn't up to the mark.

Polladhavan was the best of this year Diwali releases and personally I liked the screenplay. I didn't expect that a Tamil movie was made around a bike. Its Vetrimaaran's smartness and the efforts of the team come up with something interesting and different. Maturity can be seen clearly in Dhanush acting and he is shaping up well. If he continues to choose something similar roles rather than "Thiruda Thirudi" stuff then he will withstand for some years to come. Hope Aishwarya would be a happy wife seeing Dhanush success after quiet some period. Overall the movie was good and two songs were nice to hear numbers. The screenplay's notch has made this movie a well successful one.

I saw "I am Legend" in theatre last weekend after few months of gap. I went to the movie after reading the reviews as good and had the confidence with Will Smith performance. The movie was just OK as it was similar to "28 days later" though it wasn't that horror, but kind of similar pattern. It’s about a virus attacking the whole world and the only survivor on earth is Will Smith. The dark seekers, big wolf dogs, scary faces of the human in animal state were all usual item seen in numerous Hollywood movies. Will smith has done his part well and his face seems to be bit dull throughout the movie. I did enjoy few scenes and usual will smith giggle act. The dog Samantha the only company for will smith was nice to see and would make a smile in your face :)

Last month so many things were happening and as days passed by realized "narsidude" just finished three years of living in blog space. I never thought that it would long last for this many years and just hanging on with the things happening. I do sincerely try to write something as I don't want to stop something which I enjoy. Hope the blog continues to get the warm reception as before and even more! Earlier anniversary notes here and here :)

After a year and half when you know that it’s just few days away to visit your home, it’s exciting and thousand butterflies fly inside you. Yep, I would be travelling back home next week on vacation and wish to enjoy every moment to the core. Planning to unplug from everything for few weeks and just be as a school boy who passes his time during his summer holidays. When I look back everything seems to be a pleasant experience and want to start right from my kinder garden days till here. Already have planned to visit few spots, which are my all time favorites in Chennai. I am very fond of sitting at home with the family team and just chatting for nothing. Dosas, idly, Bajjis are just waiting for my arrival in Saravana Bhavan and Sangeetha's. Devi paradiselyum, Sathyamlyum Kaal veche aganum moodivoda iruken. Morning walk at Marina beach and evening bike ride to Besant nagar beach are still recapped in my mind. Eppo eppo athu kedaikum, itho ithonu next weeka ethir nooki kathikittu iruken. Jodi No1 - Season 2

[Courtesy:vijay.indya.com]

Last year Jodi No1 was a mega hit in Vijay TV and I have heard the success story of this dance show. This year when the same program was re-launched as Jodi No1 Season 2, I have been following it up from day 1 of the show. Each show is enjoyable apart from the Vijay TV routine hype on the back ground of the show. Sometimes really it irritates when it captures the small incidents in the back of the sets and publishes just as an emotional advertisement.

There are 8 Jodi's competing for the Jodi No1 title. Everyone are good in their own ways but when comes to the stage performance they are evaluated and the list is narrowed down to the final show.

Dev and Aishwarya - These two seems to be good in chemistry as well in the dance flow. One minus for Dev is expressionless face in his dance. But apart from it they seem to be doing good amount of home work before the show and the sequence is fine. Personally I don't see them as the final probable, as my gut feeling says that they might get eliminated in one of the rounds in the coming weeks.

Tinku and Preethi - This jodi seem to be one of the good bet in the final round. Especially Tinku is giving his heart breaking performance. Preethi seems to be out of touch when compared to Tinku. This Jodi will live up to near the final round just because Tinku takes away everyone by his work and steps. Preethi does well but she is over shadowed by Tinku’s performance. I wish they reach to the finals for sure.

Aravind & Lakshmi - Both seem to be out of sync sometimes but somehow came through 3 rounds. This jodi was eliminated in Property round which is 4th round. But they did well to their level best. 1 mistake they did in the song selection and sometimes the chemistry wasn't working that well. But they did what they can and kudos to them.

Prithvee Raj & Uma Riyaaz - I bet strongly on this Jodi as they are one of the best pair in this season 2. Not that they are excellent dancers but the rhythm, hard work, ease performance, flow and chemistry are well in shape. I like Uma Riyaaz for her excellent face expressions and her cute performance. Of course Prithiviraj is outstanding in his gimmicks and body language. Long way to go but a safe bet Jodi.

Yugendran & Malini - They are real life couple but the song selections they made in each round were totally out of sync for a dance show. Also the dance steps were just like moving the legs & body. It wasn't competing enough for a dance show. This Jodi was eliminated in the Retro round.

Irfan & Monisha - Kana Kanum Kalangal Jodi and the youngest pair participating in this event. I said participating and not competing because Irfan seems to be a non-dancer. Monisha is a first-class dancer and she performs her job. But Irfan slips and his dance movements are stiff. Due to which I feel reaching to the final show is tough task for this Jodi. But Monisha is the ray of hope for this Jodi. Personally I like Monisha cute face and if I would have got a chance before to meet her, might have proposed her :) ya, she is beautiful and wish this Jodi reaches the finals at least for her :(

Venkat & Nisha - Venkat is the hero of this Jodi and they are real life couples. Nisha gives him the right support what she can but Venkat takes away the show with is free style dance movements. I just love his body language and the movement comes to him with ease. This jodi is also a good bet for the final show and am sure they will get till the finals.

Sri & Kirthika - This Jodi surprises you suddenly with their performance and suddenly might disappoint. Sri seems to over confidence and Kirthika seems to over reacting. But in 2 rounds they did well and other rounds they were OK mark. But really you can't guess this Jodi and they might get pass the mark by their sudden performance. We have to wait & watch. If they select good tempo songs and put an astonishing performance then there may be a chance.

The three judges of the show are Sundaram, Simbhu, Sangeetha. Sundaram master is experienced and senior dance master. But sometimes you feel that he doesn't know any other words to praise other than Super, Kalakitta,...Simbhu does a good job and as usual dominates the panel. I was surprised that he was appearing as a judge but it was a good move by him. Sangeetha is good but what performance she has given in dance to be in the panel confuses me. Sometimes she reacts and sometimes gives good scores.

Devadarshini & Deepak are the two anchors of the show. Deepak is doing well with his limited speech. Devadarshini shortly called as DD dominates and doesn't allow anyone to talk. She just shouts and keeps on talking. DD mam you are looking good that’s the only reason I am bearing your non-stop talk. Not only me Deepak as well others:)

Enemy of the State

[Courtesy: www.allposters.com]

The privacy theft by the internet and other sources were shown in a video footage from googleanonymous site. It’s very obvious how deeply it intrudes into a common man life and how it can steal once complete private affairs. When it comes to professional life how it affects the business through phone tapping and other means. If someone who controls this critical information wants to frame you as a fool yep he can. So someone can control someone life if they want to, which is ridiculous. As technology improvises every time, there is always the backside of it to use improperly. If such goes to the hand of wrong person then the result of it becomes adverse. More and more such adverse effects will be seen in coming years due to the technology advancements. If it is used for betterment of a mankind then the purpose of its birth is right.

"Enemy of the state" is one such film where it deals how the NSA using hi-technology tries to devastate a man's personal life. It’s a movie about a murder; NSA does in the event of making to pass the surveillance power bill. The NSA deputy general says "I want every details of this guy from blood samples, urine result and his sex nature". So when they want they can get into any detail of an individual. Another time Brill a main character of the movie says "At least be happy that they don't know what you think inside. There is your privacy". Oh boy... hmmm .The movie has Will Smith, Gene Hackman and Jon Voight in lead roles. The plot was good and the screenplay was tight. The technical aspects shown as part of the movie was a gaze. Will Smith was amazing and performed a subtle act has a how common man would be surprised when his life is exposed. The leaders speak that to protect the nation the people has to give everything they have....then what protection is nation giving to them...irony...It’s a good movie to watch from the aspect to know how the information theft is growing as tech advances...Better watch out guys....

Saroja Sama Nikalo!!

It was 100th day celebrations for Chennai 600028 movie produced by SPB Saran and directed by Venkat Prabu. Few glimpse of the function which were highlights:

1. Rajini & Kamal were present along with other cine personalities.
2. The whole program was anchored by two guys who were sending laughing gas through the crowd.
3. At one stage the presenters told that they want to do a “Jabam” for people who are suffering and the slogan would relief from the pain. Everyone was requested to close their eyes and few people from the audience section started closing their eyes and these guys started to repeat “Saroja Sama Nikalo… Saroja Sama Nikalo….” You should see the laugh outburst from our superstar...
4. Vijay, Balachander and Bharathiraja spoke on screen as they were unable to attend the function.
5. Dhanush came to speak something but blabbered something for which Aishwarya, daughter of Rajini commented to her father, spontaneously our thalaiver smiled.
6. Kamal seems to be out of mood to mingle completely into the function. Whenever something happened Rajini was sharing something which Kamal was listening as if he told something seriously.
7. SPB spoke a good speech applauding the achievement of these youngsters and praying that they succeed in their future endeavors.
8. Kamal spoke on the achieving more and assured that he & Rajini would be there to give a pat.
9. Rajini spoke a nice peppy talk and gave a dashing introduction as “To honor the function of a film made for friendship by friends, he has come with his close friend Kamal”. In side gap he also informed on the initial talk on starting the Lagaan Tamil version. Nice thing it didn’t happen and I was relieved.
10. Finally the group sung the “Yaaro” song from the movie as conclusion and a group snap was taken. In that Rajini voluntarily took Venkat arms around his neck and you should see the reaction of Venkat.

Perplex?

[Courtesy:visiontv.ca]

It was a movie released in 1988. You can see Tom Cruise in his teen looks when compared to the MI sequels. The movie name is Rain Man, Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise are in the front lead. The movie produces mixed effects to the audience, sympathy, hilarious and sentiments in right percentage. The movie is an award winning movie and you would know why when you experience it. I started late to watch the movie and completed around early morning which in turn put me into sleep till afternoon. It’s a good flick and doesn’t bore you. It deals with the brain disorder “autism” and Dustin lives as such throughout the movie.

Sometimes I get few questions which puzzle me:

1. Why do our people see movies more than their average per month in a foreign soil when compared to their stay at home?
2. Why do we get used cars but doesn’t want to spend on the maintenance in US?
3. Why do people plan to go for a vegetable purchase as some shopping dhamaka here?
4. Why do people worry too much of health & physic when they stay for sometime in US?
5. Why people tend to find out cultural activities when they don’t even think about it at home?
6. Why people at home when calling get confused in good morning & good evening though they have been told ‘n’ times?
7. Why do the bachelors in US speak to their home more than they actually speak when they are at home?
8. Why is the photo sessions conducted more frequently here?
9. Will people die or get psychic if internet is not there in US?
10. What will people do if they don’t have a laptop or computer at their home in US?
11. Why do people show more interest in Tamil\mother tongue when in US and for English when in India?
12. Why when they are here they want to go back home and when they are at home they want to come here?
13. Why people think too much when they go back to home from here as if they have stayed outside the planet?

காலத்தின் கட்டாயம்!

[நன்றி:Dinamalar]

Tham Tharee kitta

Kichu maama kichu mama not two persons, 1 friend of my father was there. When he used come to my home, my father used to complain about me saying this guy is playing kite & bambaram and was wasting his time. So Kichu mama told that in his house Miruthangam class is ongoing every weekend and he will make me to join the classes. He called me and said “Parupa, naama aathu payan nee….ethavathu intha carnatga samacharam ellam kathukanum, from coming Saturday onwards morning 7am veetuku vandhiru…”. I was thinking pochuda they have planned to kill my weekend sleep. But at that age I wasn’t able to oppose ippo mattum ennavam….but kuralachum kodupen :) So I was forcibly pushed to miruthanga class and started going to it. Saturday morning 6am used to be waked up for bath and a hot coffee would be served. I used to wear a white dhothi and T-shirt…naane thaaan …and go to the class. As it was my first day, I was given the top priority. My Guruji called me and had to get his blessings with fruits & fees for that month. It was the Guru thakshanai. Pillayar Slogam was the first thalam taught to me. Still remember it “Thoom thoom thaaka thakeeta….” Guruji was sincere in one thing, after teaching he used to write the thalam notes in a notebook for every person and give for practice. I thought ok now this is my route oru periya miruthanga chakrvarthiya ayuda vendiyathuthu thaan. But the interest got down and turned towards Karate…that’s a whole lot of different story.

Though the classes were conducted in Kichu mama house, Guruji was treated as their family member. He used to get time to time hot coffee from Kichu mami and I used think enaku koduka mattalanu. If I start first to play my master used to take long hours and used to scold me for stiff hands. One bad thing was everybody used to be there around and it was kind of embarrassing feel. We Tamil guys are very famous for hitting 1 person if first hit was given in the crowd. So slowly these elder guys and oldies used to comment “Thaambi appadi illapa ippadi methuva methuva”. I live in a colony and was kind of gang lead for a group. So when few of these elder guys who stay near my home used to be there, it was kind of “maana prachanai” for me. So I started thinking how to skip this part and escape. From next week onwards I used to tell my master that I am totally free and would like to watch other’s play and finally show my talent. Master used to think “Agaa...What an interest is there with this fellow” But I know the truth of why I prefer to learn as a last person. So after getting early and going to class I used to sit in the class for 3-4 hrs just for the sake of avoiding those big brothers. They used to play well and the session would be sometimes good as competing with fellow persons. Sometimes I used to enjoy and sometimes I used to crib my soga kathai. Like this it was moving for years and then 1 fine day my master told me to buy own miruthangam. So I got that and shelved it. My father used to scold for buying the instrument and not playing it. I decided that I will make him to repent to scold me like this. He used to go for night shifts to his office so he used so sleep in the morning. So when he starts sleeping I used to practice mirudhagam with dum dum dum sound. Then he stopped commenting and I was relived from the pressure.

Next peer pressure started. All those guys who come to class does something in front of my mother and my mother started asking me when I will do like them. So next I had to think what I should do to cover up this. My school annual function was going on and my Tamil teacher Kalyani was in search of a background score when a ghost enters into the drama. The music was to just give the scary effect and it was only “Daama daama daama” sound. I thought this would be the right opportunity to lock my mother’s peer pressure. So I went voluntarily to my teacher and said I will perform the background music as I am one miruthanga vidwan :) Then went home and exaggerated as I am performing something in the annual function. Finally the peer pressure reduced. Ippadiyaga en miruthanga saga was on going. Then public exams were nearing and I started saying that I have to pay full attention to my academics and would like to take a break of this class. Actually ellam peela thaan but just oru build up. That break from miruthanga class which I took for public exams is still continuing and my parents forgot asking me about it. Aha…

LOL :)

"Why did my iPhone fail so soon? Apple’s Geniuses couldn’t say on the spot. But I think it had something to do with heat — my iPhone would get incredibly hot to the touch when plugged in and charging while I was on a long phone call. So hot I lived those first three days in constant fear that it would heat to the point of burning up.

So hot that I was tempted to put some raw egg in a foil cup and set it atop the iPhone to see if it would cook — or if not actually cook, turn opaque from the iPhone’s super-heated back surface. Describing this on my blog JOEyGADGET promoted one other iPhone owner to comment:

“Yep, mine seems hot but I don’t know if it’s too hot. Hotness is relative you know.” Agreed when discussing physical attraction, but when talking about physical touch, take my word for it, my original iPhone all but burned the skin on my hand."

Tamil TV - Shows

[Courtesy: vijay.indya.com]

Vijay TV conducts many competition shows and different kind of programs. Airtel Super singer, Jodi No 1, Kalaka poguthu Yaru and now Super Singers for Junior. It’s not easy to organize such competitions as the initial time for admission procedures and search for the participants with right talent would be enormous. They aren’t doing it for charity but still it’s a mutual beneficial program. Spotting out the talent and helping the individuals to show case their talent and same time earning their collections. I was able to watch only the final rounds of the Super Singers Junior and enjoyed seeing the kid’s performance. Krishnamoorthy, Saisharan, Vignesh, Abarna were the kids competing each other. Each of their parents was having a role in this event of pressing the buzzer and choosing the song for their kids. It was a nice idea to involve them as their kids would feel comfortable. What was not comfortable for me is the points system being announced after each round. They are at their budding stage and they react immediately. I can feel the confidence level dropping down for Abarna when she was given low points. The idea of the show is to bring out the talent and to encourage bringing more. But this seems to be naïve. Krishnamoorthy’s body language, modest behavior and facial expressions were plus apart from his voice. I liked the attitude of Saisharan and Abarna taking up the things when points were given. That too Abarna was too cute and I can see the pressure on her mother face rather on her. Every parent wants their ward to succeed and try to force. It might not work well at all times. Vignesh sings well but seems to be bit over confident. His body language shows too much pride and far beyond his age. But he is a kid and if groomed would come with flying colors. Folk, Melody and semi-carnatic were the rounds in the finals. All 4 did exceptionally well and felt happy seeing these children. Overall it was a satisfying program and grudging missing the early rounds.

Another program I watched in Jaya TV was this Bru Star Ungaludan hosted by Suchitra. The star for that day show was K.S.Ravikumar. It was nice to see him speaking but sometimes his answers were kind of rude. I liked when Kaniga and Kamalhasan spoke as a caller. Kamal when asked so what next after coming to this height? He said a good one saying when you climb the Tirupathi hills after some steps there will be a platform where you can relax or move forward [Moochum vangalam muneravum seyyalam]. I would like to move forward. I totally disliked the way Suchitara spoke or hosted. Konjam illa rombave adhiga prasangi thanama irunthathu. The way she answers the caller, continous interruption while Ravi kumar talks, Silly comments. Someone has to hold her biiiiiig mouth for some time. She might be good as a Radio Jockey but certainly not for this show. If the sponsor of the program happen to see this only request to consider someone else for hosting the show….Ennala mudiyala…

Parthiban Kanavu - a dream for all couples

I have seen numerous times this movie and love to see again and again. A poem or story if written with full involvement and experience comes out in a fabulous way. I believe Karu Pazhaniappan has done one such. The movie portrays the role model wife whom every guy would dream for his future. Sneha has performed the dual role one is peppy and other as the wife character. She aptly suits in both the roles and I just adored her in wife role. Satya is the wife character name and Janani is the city girl type name. Satya just occupies your mind completely with her body language and pleasant expressions. She is quiet but still converse with you with her expressions. The person to be applauded is Karu Pazhaniappan who just takes away with his simple, elegant script & screenplay. The dialogues are sharp and speak about reality & life. The movie as a whole was taken maturely with good sense of humor. Everybody has performed their roles in appreciable manner. Vidyasagar definitely was an additional plus for the movie. The songs were excellent and sweet to hear. Everybody in the movie was good and that’s the problem in the plot. There are no such bad elements and each one was good at their own ways. Few dialogues which I thoroughly enjoy:

Kalancha than vedu kalaiyama iruntha museum
Kalyanathu munnadi kadhalichen, kalayanthu kprum atha neruthitten
Kanavan manayvi kulla sorry solla arambicha, vazhkayila padhi time sorry than sollanum
Odambu seri illathavana pathu epplernthu ketta seri, nalla irukravana pathu epplernthunu ketta enna solrathu

Like this many dialogues were catchy and really pleasurable.

Friday to Saturday!

In US to recreate they play different kind of games which is new to me. The other day I was watching a group was throwing a thread tied with two balls at its end to a pole kind of structure. If the thread structure hangs on the pole after it’s ejection then a point is credited to the end. This Friday evening watched another type where two boxes with a hole were kept at two ends. A small sack filled with sand was thrown to the box and if it falls inside the hole then it’s a point. Three girls and three boys with can beer in each of their hands were playing. I was fluctuating to see the game and the girls ah... After coming back to den I was bit bored. Whether to sleep early or to watch something or to browse something what should I do was the thought process ongoing. Starring at the DVD boxes for some time and then pulled out the movie “The Butterfly Effect”. Initially when the movie started I wasn’t fully involved into it but in the end turned out to be a good one. The movie was a fantasy movie of travelling back in time [Irony: I want to kill time but watching a movie projecting about travelling back in timeJ]. The movie starts from the childhood days of the hero Evan Treborn by Ashton Kutcher. At important phases there were memory blackouts for him and the screen fades out. At first I wasn’t able to correlate the sequences and was confused. Later in the movie when he travels back in time he was able to visualize the same situation and alter the way it happens. The story plot and screen play was done so well and compels the audience to continue till the end. It was a tightly coupled sequence and anywhere the director slipped then the whole movie would have diluted. The director succeeds in what he wanted to project and it has come out in a good shape. Evan goes back to his memory blackouts by reading his daily journals and knowing what had happened he tries to alter the situation. But the outcome of the modified was totally out of his hands and turns out to be negative some way or other to himself or his close mates. Hence every time he goes back and alters to see everything finishes well. He loves Kayleigh's performed by Amy smart and he wanted her with him after he modifies the past. But it didn’t work some way or other, so at the end he scarifies his love and once for all ends his love in its budding stage, carving a good future for everybody.

Each plot the same characters perform a different role. It was like seeing multiple movies with in a movie and was interesting. Rajinikanth made a statement on an occasion when asked why he wasn’t doing his next movie as “Kadhai illa sir”. After watching such movies which deals with same love story but in a creative outfit, makes to think why new stories aren’t there. It puzzles me how Kamalhasan who likes to perform variety missed to redo this play. Just out of craziness thinking whether this might be the story of Dasavatharam, his next venture :) I have seen “Back to future” and this one but I like the later more. There is no end to creativity and movie world is all about it.

Changes are inevitable and apply to everyone\everything. For past few days was thinking of doing some physical activity rather than sitting in front of the black box. I like playing but forming the group, pulling everybody in the evening time became out of scope and gone are those days. Those days my job was to call everybody from their home sharp at 4 pm for playing. To go to gym feel somewhat lazy and also think if not continued then will blow up again. Might be a myth but comfortable with it. Hence planned to go for a walk for a while. Don’t know whether this will be continued but making an attempt to it. In this effort the biggest supporter is my iPod and Tamil movie songs. Especially songs from Vijay, Rajini movies make you to feel energetic and your pulse rate increases. So for now “Unnoda uyarvuku unnoda vervai, ennoda uyarvuku ennoda vervai…”

Masal Vadai Matters

When we feel hungry or the taste buds have to be fed, we crawl towards a restaurant. After entering into the restaurant we search for a table where it will be free from disturbances and clean surroundings. Then we reach the table and instead of kerchief to show that the table is reserved we keep some of our personal belongings on the table. Then we head towards the washroom to wash, comb, adjust the dress and feel good our self. After coming back to table if it is a non-AC room then we look up to check whether the fan is spinning, if not ask the water boy or the waiter to switch it on. If we have come with someone then we ask them “Aprum enna sapdirueenga!” Actually we should ask our self?#$. We then browse the menu card and stare at each item as if it was the first time we are seeing it. Then confusion starts, go for north Indian dish or south Indian, Tiffin or meals. After coming to a conclusion we settle down with few items. We wave our hands towards the bearer symbolic showing we are ready to chalk out the items. In this cycle gap, the person whom we have come along would specify an item name and tell that’s the restaurant specialty. Though we have chosen the item, we again ask the bearer “Ennaga sudda…iruku…” He will then re-telecast the menu card in his own pace for which we sharpen our ears. Then we specify the list to him and he will call the water boy to place water jug in the table. Meanwhile we ask the opponent party “Eppadi sir life poitu iruku??”. Then he will specify some recent incident and give us a detail explanation. The placed order would have arrived; we would be puffing the heat and listening to the story. In between we would be specifying some ideas or a quote or “Amamam” and continue gulping the item. After finishing the heavy dose, we would look for a desert or hot beverage. Personally my favorite item would be coffee. After the coffee taste, starts lingering in our tongue, we proceed to check out the restaurant.

Ithukellam inga velaya illa. Whether it’s Chipotle, Subway, Taco bell, all we do is see the item displayed on the board, select, order, pay, eat and come out. Generally when I come out of these fast food chains the satisfying experience as specified in the first paragraph will not be there. We go fill something and come back. The relaxed outfit will not be there, though you can sit and talk for hours in the place. The inner feel compels us to move out as soon as we finish. Yes! Indian restaurants and other posh places can more or less give us the way we want but we can’t reach to them frequently as we go to a Rathna Café in Chennai :)

Tribute

A good friend is always a valuable asset you have earned for yourself. There is no substitute for good people being with you. I have limited group of people whom are close and mutually cherish the moments. Today morning I got the news of losing one due to unknown reasons so far. It really broke me down and the day was horrible. All the past instants with him was hitting hard in my mind. It was shocking and shouldn’t have happened. He is a nice, energetic, enthusiastic person whom everybody would like to move along. We have shared our times together happily, quarrelling, discussing and playing…ahh! I am thinking how his family would take this, it’s tough and a total let down. I have no idea what had happened suddenly and still unable to believe myself. Many people die but when the near & dear does, it pinches you to ground. Pray that his soul rest in peace and his family needs to get consoled. We are going to miss you dear friend!

For the 1.5 months exaggerations, for the multiple story lines revolving around from the day movie was launched, for the interviews each key person of the movie gave, for all the pre\post reviews in news papers, blogs and all media, for the dashing trailer, for the premier show chats, for the feedback from the known persons who saw the movie, for the question why a bald person is wearing the cooling glass in reverse fashion before entering the theatre, I got the answer finally for all these for’s. The movie Sivaji can be classified as one of the commercial super hits of all-time superstar Rajini, the youth at 50’s.

Rajini strengths are his style, comedy, action and his looks which are being utilized completely. Shankar’s strength in this movie is Rajini and he has played around him. The whole movie can be watched for Rajini, Rajini and Rajini. Yes he has banged the industry that he is the 100% entertainer and evergreen super star. You can admire him from all aspects in the film. You expect to watch him in his action then he fulfills your expectations more than you want. Thegata thegata Rajiniya kamichirukanga and pathu rasikalam. Every frame pixel by pixel he is occupied. I don’t recollect a single scene where his presence is not shown. After a 2 years gap from a movie and 8 year gap from a Rajini type movie this is it. You will enjoy “The Boss” from every angle you watch. At his age he has given more than 100 percent effort which is visible. His performance in order if you arrange in this movie it will be looks, comedy, style, dance, action. Enormous effort can be seen in his dancing, fight sequences pushing back his age factor. The don roars in the second half and you can see 80’s Rajini in the first half. The second half is routine Rajini stuff and I thoroughly enjoyed the first half. Every scene was as pleasure to watch and this man just kalakals. When he walks in songs, dances or in the actions you can observe his aging factor. Mottai Rajini simply takes over you. Eppadi antha vettayan Raja manusula ninaro intha mottai Rajiniyum appdiye ninutaru. In fact many scenes were surprising to me from this super man, antha comedy dialogues imitations, disguising himself into Shivaji, MGR & Kamal…Wow! He rocks. Kandipaga Rajinikaga pakka vendiya padam.

Shankar has done well in coordinating and articulating the play with a team. But sir ethayo neenga tholachitteenga athu kathaya, illa unga logic senseya, illa unga originalitya, illa saraku theenthu pocha…something or everything is lost. Antha Gentlemen, Indian, Mudhalvan Shankara thedi thedi pakuren padathula kanum. When you have such a powerful person casting for your story you should have given a powerful story. Seri Rajini movies always revolve around a small group of persons and theme. Avara poi veena National, international ranguku ellam panna vechu konjam sothapal paniteenga. You have taken utmost care for small things in each frame and tried to improvise it. But main matterana storyum athu ketha screenplayum konjam sarikirukeenga. Rajini superstar thaan but athukaga superman panra fantasy ellam avaru mela thinicha avarudo strengths weeknessa marida abayam iruku. But really appreciate your whole effort in piling up and taking care of the direction. But as a whole you haven’t exploited completely neither Rajini strength or the story. How a software architect can earn 200 crores and how after 20 years of service he is unmarried? Bramandam kamikaruthu unga style aana Rajini mattikitta athe image lock madhiri neengalum matikatheenga, muyuchikoonga. Ellathyum bramandam kamika pona thegatidum. Unga Asst. directors ellam kalakranga, so watch out Shankar.

AR you showed again what you are. The background score as well as music will be the next talk of the town after Rajini till this movie celebrates silver jubilee. But antha music instrument store fight scenela konjam adaki vasichirukalam konjam kathulernthu ratham vanthuduchu. Overall AR has scored distinction in the movie.

Money Laundry, CPR, Voice recognition system and for few dialogues Sujatha sneaks in. But fulla ethyume explore panama ethu 100 pera konna pathee vaithiyan madhiri irunthathu. Shreya the beauty doll walks, talks, dances, and does minor acting. She was a breeze as a heroine. The art direction thotta tharani and camera work by KV Anand in this movie will be their certificates for life time. Shivaji styla sollanumna Chumma adhiradi panirukanga. Intha creative team athu ithunu padam arambikum bothu sonangale avanga enna senchangnu theriyala. Raghuvarana totala waste pannirukanga and the list include Manivanan.

Suman does well but still his dialogue delivery sucks. Ethoo madhiri iruku, antha effect varala. Always Rajini movies the villains will be powerful in their personality take Basha, Padayapa or any commercial movie in the recent past. But ivaru buildup ellam ok than but pesum bothu tamlegu madhiri iruku. Vivek Rajini pinnadiye irukaru, first halfla sirika vekararu, poraru. 30 to 40 percent of his Boy’s performance, ambuttuthaan. Opening scene of a Rajini movie eppadi irukanum!! konjam theatrea adhiranum illa aana inga dialoguela than adhirathu varuthu. Opening scena Karthik padam madhiri arambichutanga. Ithu nalatha illa kedathanu theriyala but satisfyinga illa.

Overall the movie is a thorough entertainer and a feast for Rajini rasigan. Cool endra varthaya thayavu senchu Tamil ilakiyathula sethirunga. Inume adutha padam release agura varaikum Tamil nadula veyil eppadinu kettalum coooolnu than padhil varum. Shivaji effect ache….Coooooool!!

Nammavar

What am I writing about when “The Boss” is sending havoc across the globe? What you think is not what you get :) I am a buff of thalaiver, but still a person who like to watch any good movie. Kamalhasan to me is a person who loves the Tamil industry and tries to do experimentation in his movies. In his experiments he has burnt his fingers several times but still striving to give different movies and waiting for the audience approval. In Devar Magan there is a dialogue where Shivaji says “Athu ethu restaurant sonniye konduvaa, kathu kodu, aana namma pasanga methuva than varuvanga” perfectly suits for Kamal's thirst to give variety movies to Tamil audience. Nammavar was a blend of commercial items with a light message to society. Nammavar, Devar magan, Anbe Sivam are on my evergreen list from this actor, I do have couple more but just mentioning these as I watched for nth time these recently. Kamal is one of the best artiste whom Tamil industry had bagged but sometimes I don’t like his overacting. Nammavar does have couple of scenes where he does this extra effort which becomes hamming. But still overall it’s a movie where you can enjoy as the plot and screenplay was neat. The first entry of Kamal as vice principal with his lifted coolers, blade fight scene where he says “Venamda ithellam venam thane naan iruken”, clash scenes between him and Karan, the apologize scene, the song sequence that follows after the instruments were broken were few to mention. The movie portrays the bad patches of college youngsters and few scenes hits the society with its raw fact. The scene when one of the student falls from the ceiling and taken to hospital the ward boy says to Kamal “Sir ethachum kavinga sir, kamal then shouts and he continues to say dei sir remba kovama irukaru…”, another scene in a open discussion between college management and parents one of the founder says “Sir nanga ellam saraayam vithhu vantha kasula thaan intha college kattinom” are few hitting the truth in a light manner. Nagesh, this splendid actor has shown several brilliant performances in the past and here too was amazing. The scene where he behaves differently after his daughter suicides was a sample and shows his in-depth experience. Karan’s debut but still showed his maturity and I liked his performance. Sun TV top 10 style if I have to say “Nammavar Vallavar”!

Mogambo Kush Huva!!

Watching Rajini movie first day show is like watching India vs. Pakistan cricket match and where India batting second hits a sixer in the last ball of the 50th over.

I am eager and charged.

To aspiring Indian Students

[Konjam blade potruken keela athaan oru breakku thalai snap:)]

I know adequate details were\are provided for the students in India on the importance of education & career prospects. With the niggling experience and exposure I have, I wanted to emphasis again on the same topic. This is not for the exceptions and intelligent eccentrics. I write this because I was ignorant, arrogant and of course unaware in my early stages. Advice is one of the free items you get in India all over. But we need to evaluate by assessing how it benefits us when implemented. The competition level is increasing day by day and demands for multi-skills are essential for ones steady growth. When we look at the future we should envision a steady career and ground work should be done at very early stage. This might be boring or sounding differently but reality is yeah! effort without which nothing comes out. What goes in is what comes out. How much you involve yourself is important for success. During school\college days, many would have heard people saying study! study! study. But people like me press the mute button until they complete this talk. To school students they need to give immense concentration on Maths, Physics, Geography and of course English. You don’t have to worry about computer programming as if the roots are strong this comes automatically. English is utmost important as I see people struggle present themselves. They have a fabulous idea but without a glamorous presentation how it can be sold. English means not just speaking jargons or writing something. But right grammar, strong vocabulary and stylish way of speaking\writing. People struggle for it as their foundation is weak. If the roots aren’t strong we tend to search for right words to use and repeat same kind of words in our usage. When you have a strong vocabulary you don’t have to really search as it will be instant and your presentation would be influencing.

According to Indian system of education 10th and 12th are the deciding phases and I totally align with it. The percentage of successful students scoring low in 10th\12th is less when compared to the one scoring high. I am not saying that scoring matters and it only shows your IQ. But the system believes so and we have to operate along. People will give 1000 examples of Bill Gates, Edison but we aren’t talking about the exceptions. We want to prove by regular practice and hard work. Scoring high in 10th\12th provide the outside world that you are a proven machine and can work well. It’s kind of measuring equipment to specify how much load you can withstand. Hence show that you can take how much ever given. Then after finishing in good way select a college\course which tops [course depends on interests]. This is very important for your career. An average from IIT is preferred than a brilliant from some Andipatti Engg college. Former gets more opportunities than the later. Top colleges really matters and provides more scope and a broader spectrum of choice. During college days along with the piles of theories intake and vomits one has to do more practical’s on applying what he learns. One has to experiment & validate whether what he learnt is correct. The application of hands-on boosts confidence and true understanding of your learning. When you have made your stamp in the college then you have choices of choosing the companies. Good companies and right work in your early stage also matters and one has to be careful in choosing it. One has to see the mutual growth of company and self. There should be a vision on ones growth and has to work towards it.

Everyone at your workplace your colleagues, boss, friends respect you when you have stuff. Without which if you show off it will be exposed shortly and you need to search a new place soon to stay for survival. I am not saying people with moderate knowledge don’t stay but how many people give the same dignity in their backs as they show in front of them. You forget people around you, just think within yourself how many days we fool ourselves by show off and what is the satisfaction level we get. If we think deeply we can realize the fact. Inclination to do new things and learning should not be stopped at any stage of life to have a successful career. When one feels he is saturated then his expiry is nearing in the industry. My final point is when one has done all these successfully then chances hits the door and we really don’t have to fear much. Many people in the industry have this insecure feeling as they don’t really believe them as their grounds are weak. Run boy run and grab the baton of success!

Theory

In a recently watched movie “Slither”, a professor teaches student on the phrase “Survival of the fittest” and concludes saying fittest doesn’t mean stronger or intelligent. But how on given circumstances one survives or one who is better at surviving on given conditions. How true!!

Am using the Opera browser for quite some time. I like the sleek look and the presentation. Recently upgraded it to 9.2 version. It has the feature of speed dial as we have in our phones. You can set 9 most visited sites of yours as speed dials and it will show in one tab as thumb nail view. It’s convenient and good to use. Also I like the widget feature of it which is available in the early versions.

Vijay TV Awards

[Courtesy:vijaynet.com]

Happen to watch Vijay TV award for film artistes, forming a bridge between TV medium and film industry. I am always a firm supporter of Vijay TV due to sheer fact that it’s much better than all the other Tamil channels available. Especially I support just to oppose Sin sorry Sun TV. The show was nicely packed with right mixtures of planned events. The program was hosted by Yugi Sethu and did have few giggles in his presentation. The show started with a traditional dance combined with Yogi B rap group. Group of young singers from super singer show, group from Jodi no 1 series, Priya Mani, Yanna Gupta, Ragasiya dances and the famous Madai thiranthu song remix fame Yogi group added essence to the show. The awards were presented based on the votes casted by the people of the state conducted by Vijay TV. S.P.Balasubramanian was awarded for the best male singer which is worth and has completed 40 years in the industry last December. WOW! Incredible and his voice is a prodigy. He thanked Janaki another female singer for inspiring him to sing during his early days. I was moved a bit when Janaki was announced for the female singer award. I didn’t expect it to happen, as the whole audience, celebrities gave a standing ovation for this respectable female singer. She is completing her 50 years in her profession by this April and still her voice is in teens. She was modest, childish, humble and adorable when she got the award and gave a pep talk. Man! Getting award is different story but to win the respect from people and still being modest with so much fame, talent, money is something really appreciable. I liked the way the audience gave their salutes to her. Similar treatment was given to Kamalhasan when he got the “Shivaji” award. They couldn’t have reached these heights without scarifying so much from them towards their profession. After the function was over, the making of this function was relayed. It was good to see the amount of effort undergone in preparing this event. But what was annoying me is every celebrity spoke, exactly said these words “It’s good that Vijay TV organized such an event. What is remarkable about this award is it is not chosen by a panel and it’s by the people”. My god I got headache hearing the same lines from different voices. Thaanga mudiyala Saami!

Parupoosili

[The one I cooked :-)]

Scrambling for cooking food is always present after coming to US. Sometimes you feel very upset about the food you just prepared. Now understood the pain of cooking and seriously will owe lot better to my mom. I like parupoosili with vegetables like cabbage and beans. I asked my mom the method for it and then I have tried several times. But always felt that something lacked and I am missing something in it. What it is…. again called up mom and asked for an explanation. Yesterday tucked up my sleeves and entered the kitchen with full josh. I wanted to prepare the same way I eat at home and so patiently did each step with utmost care. Finally it was well payed off…Yes the dish came exactly the way I have it at home without any hassles. Oh man the feeling you get when your cooked food is good, ahh… it’s really something good sense. I have just pushed off my plates when something wasn’t right at home and seriously regret for those actions. But anyways Mom’s cooking has one more ingredient added in it which we all know we won’t be getting it anywhere else.

To bachelors and temporary bachelors here is the recipe:

1. Soak Toor Daal and bit of Channa Daal in water for 30 minutes.
2. Cut Beans\Cabbage into small pieces and cook them in a cooker or open pan in water with salt added to it.
3. Take the soaked daal and add red chilli, salt to it. Then grind it with very little water to form a thick paste.
4. Pour good amount of oil, mustard and fry the grinded daal into dry separate chunks.
5. Then add the boiled vegetables into it and fry nicely till it gets the aroma :-0

Enjoy the curry with sambhar rice and it perfectly matches with curd rice.

Nothing Lasts Forever!

[Courtesy:booksamillion.com]

This week I completed yet another thriller series from Sidney SheldonNothing Lasts forever”. The novel was written in 1994 and it is a medical thriller. The story revolves around three young female doctors Paige Taylor, Kat Hunter and Honey Taft. Most of the situations were built around the county hospital where these three doctors join as residents. The novel has a prologue, chapters and an epilogue with a perfect finishing touch. The prologue deals with the court room scenes where the readers are brought into the middle of the story in the introduction. Then each chapter passes like a windy breeze building upon minute details one after the other. Finally the epilogue concludes with the details of the each main characters aftermath. The characterization of each character in the novel is gross and gives the readers with complete dimension of the story. Paige and Kat were the two main characters I liked most in the story.

Sidney Sheldon has done adequate homework for the novel. He would have read many books on medicines, Sex, discussed with dozen of doctors on their routines and observed for several days in a hospital. Without this he couldn’t have written this novel with so much information on each item. The good part is he tempts the reader to move on and doesn’t allow stagnating or feeling bored. Overall it was a fascinating novel with impeccable story line and thorough entertainment.

Identity

More than “Who am I”, I get choked with the question of “What am I”. I get so much confused with this question and searching for an answer. If I know this answer then I would be one of the rishi’s sitting in one eternal place. I am puzzled in finding what I came for and what I am doing is what I am for. Should I be living a life doing 9-5 job, then going back home with briefcase? Making some money, saving for buying a home, ending up in seeing the children grown up and making the way to graveyard.

I see many varieties of people, one who just see his family and forget all his passions. Neither he learns or has some interests to do something new. Only thing that concerns him is his family & be a bread winner. So he comes to job and goes back that’s all he does. What spark is there in it, I don’t find one. But I think one way oh! Is this what life should be and should I also do like this?

When I do some work I think do I mean in doing this? Am I here for it and is this what I am good at? Everyone will get a turning point where one would know what he is meant for. Did I get already this gyan or am I yet to get the opportunity? Where to find the inside and how to really pursue what am good at? But I believe everybody has this type of insider but nobody reveals or expresses. All just live as the reality pinches and stops them from pursuing their aspirations or the search for what they are. Some just live without even making this attempt as they don’t want to and completely avoid it. With this state of confusion going to bed am I meant for sleeping? :-)

[P.S.:- This post might be confusing as I am confused]

Fanna...

Weekends and weekdays are routine and same story runs throughout. Either a break is needed or something new is to occur around. Same people, same stuff, same house, same bath, same habits...gosh...Sometimes you look life in a different angle. This is a boring window I am looking at. With a lazy outlook I was browsing through the Youtube for something interesting. Came across Madurai Muthu’s Comedy series in "Kalaka Povathu Yaru" show. Muthu is a person who can interestingly elucidate pocket jokes. He has a database within him where he has tagged the jokes by personality, situation, characters and so on. So when you assign him with a tag say doctors he would be cracking jokes related to doctors in a lucid manner. Sometimes the flow is spontaneous and you will enjoy it. But what annoyed me is the way Sun TV presents the show; it is so artificial and unnatural that you puke on their creativity. Basically Sun TV doesn't have much of any creativity and only can impose its ideas by repeatedly showcasing in its advertisement. If you look at its shows, papers, magazine anything of such will not have any creativeness or analysis. It can just do a copy paste or buy off the creators from other channels. Kalaka puguthu yaru is actually from Vijay TV and the entire crew was bought from Sun TV. The irritating part of the show is, it cannot set real people to watch the show and like in the movie "Speed" sets a clapping audience clipping. This clipping is repeatedly shown whenever required. Also the crappiest idea I have ever seen is the way the chits are selected for assigning a random performance to the performers. How Muthu always gets jokes to perform and similarly other showers will get same chits for which they have practiced. All these shows, that Sun TV thinks the viewers as fools. With this kind of creative thinking if it goes on then the day to close its channel one by one is very near in the future.

The Sky is Falling

[Courtesy: wikipedia.com]

The recorded news of the BCCI meeting on the recent world cup debacle of Indian cricket was flashing in the laptop. Ravi Shastri, Sharad Pawar, Whatmore and to surprise Viv Richards faces were flashing on the screen. I was eyeing on the sketches of the story on the meeting. But was keen on completing the book I was seldom reading for the past two weeks. I was in the edge of the chapters and wanted to complete. It was really tough to read the binded piles of paper after quiet sometime. But the author compels you to do so due to the journey he takes you through.

The novel I was on was "The sky is falling" by "Sidney Sheldon". The story was about a TV journalist solving a murder mystery of an entire family. Dana Evans was the main character around which the story revolves and the story is about the murder of Winthrop family. The story has a good plot, paced move and makes you to read the next chapter after completing one. The language used is not subtle and makes the reader comfortable. The novel has several twists with right mixture of imagination, suspense and fiction. I was really impressed with the relation and logical reason it has for every point referred. It was really a pleasure to read this thriller and it has the advantage of you getting into the mid of the story. It makes as if you are watching all the happenings undoubtfully. That’s the success of the novel.

I dare not comment on Sheldon as his accolades speak about. He can be referred as a Hi tech Rajesh Kumar who is famous in writing Tamil crime pocket novels. What is interesting about Sheldon is the way he approaches each sequence in the novel and he obligates the reader to finish the novel at a stretch. The language he uses is lucid and lively to the situation. "I try to write my books so the reader can't put them down," he explained in a 1982 interview. "I try to construct them so when the reader gets to the end of a chapter, he or she has to read just one more chapter. It's the technique of the old Saturday afternoon serial: leave the guy hanging on the edge of the cliff at the end of the chapter." Yeah! this carves the key for his booming stories. Luckily read his novel from the place where he was born :-)

Meanwhile SPB is really troubling me a lot and causing me to tap my feat always. SPB introduction songs are the most welcomed and suited for a Rajini movie. The good thing about it is it exactly fits Rajini on screen and most appealing when he sings the introduction song which always holds a message to society. The song "Sooriyanum Santhiranum yaar" from the latest hot flick "Shivaji – The Boss" is the one disturbing and the top in my play list. It’s awesome! Balelaka!!

HILLS HAVE EYES II

[Courtesy:movies.yahoo.com]

"Get me some tea ya...Empa Tamil naatula iruthutu tea venumnu kekama empa englishla kekara...Dei nee teanu sonnathe english thaanda vennai...hee hee" listening to this song from Englishkaran drove to Regal cinemas to watch "Hills Have Eyes II" last Friday. Came back after the movie unsounded and thrilled. Knowing about the part I of this movie is a different story. When I used to bring DVDs from a near by library somehow picked up the part I, but never intended to watch. My roommate exhausted his DVDs for the week and took the part I for his night show. Next day came to me and said just watch it dude it’s our preferred type of movie. I was impressed by the movie with its sheer arrogance and bloodshed scenes. After a while when watching some other movie saw the trailer of part II and determined to go for it. My calculations didn't go wrong and as expected part II was even more violent and gore. If you are a person looking for thriller with gore then this is one such movie. When dug deep in wikipedia what was released in 2006 is actually a remake of 1977 movie and there were sequels in 1985 and 1995. The 2006 part I introduction starts with a logical reason as the US conducted nuclear tests in a particular region and the effects caused the people with changes in their genes.

BTW apart from Hills Have Eyes terrifying you, Google made a surprise and I was a victim, People talk more about agloco, The Boss exhibits its songs and stills....Lots of excitement waiting...

The WOW Factor!

It’s a wish to own it for quiet sometime after coming to US. I have seen people going crazy about it and have also seen several promos on it. One day had a chance to browse through its features in Best Buy store. It’s been an awesome experience for me and felt fond of it. The sleekness, sound effects, clarity, compactness... I was resisting my self from buying it for some reason. But today couldn’t stop from being the proud owner of it. Yes! finally bought the Apple iPod 30 GB. What can I comment on it, it just mesmerizes you with its sound effect and the video ah… Uyrin Uyrie video from kakha kakha movie made its debut entry into my iPod and after that non stop music for past 3 hrs. It might be a bit high expenditure for me but feel its worth buying. Few albums already in my play list are from Elton John, Backstreet Boys, Enigma, Spice Girls, Bryan Adams, Aqua, Swades, Michael Jackson, Venga Boys and list goes on…Importing the songs\videos thru iTunes is the main activity for the upcoming days :-) You will definitely feel it as a WOW factor!

Malgudi Days

Living in a single room mansion, eating in a Iyer mess, rushing to the main bus stand, running behind the Nagapattinam meter gauge train, getting a seat to sit for the 45 minutes journey, walking towards the college gate, dreaming inside the class rooms, typing "Hello World" programs, chatting with the class mates, long walk to the Parotta shops or mess for the afternoon lunch, sighting the college girls, tucked out shirt with a slipper and a long size unruled notebook with a Reynolds pen, do not forgetting to take a pocket comb, waiting for the last hour bell, going back to station and having fun at the station, speaking\singing\sleeping while coming back from college, getting down from the running train, requesting for a lift from railway station to main bus stop, walking happily with no worries but with big dreams on the roads towards the mansion, sneaking inside peoples mind each time when someone pass by, having a 2rs tea with butter biscuits, collecting notes and taking Xerox copies of unknown authors just to accumulate in the shelf, eating dinner at a fast food center, calling home from a STD booth for hours, enjoying the night in the terrace with mansion friends, playing carom board with the mansion manager, sleeping with a alarm aside for the routine tasks...Gosh. It was a wonderful life which I miss and feel could never get back. This was my post graduation period at an engineering college near Tanjore.

These Malgudi days of mine came back to me in a flash after several years when I got bunch of emails from my class mates which was a surprise. I never had a single contact with any of my Tangore guys. It’s like everybody rushing to complete what they want and in this race everybody forgot the touch with each other. We were the toughest guys for our lectures and we were given the bad treatment from everybody in the college. But now most of us stood up to a decent level and the cycle changes. The lectures started passing their resumes to us :-) We had good time with each other at the same time bad patches. There were clashes and misunderstandings with each other which now look silly. But that is a phase change and it happens to everybody. Everybody is busy with their professional work and most have got married and might be a having a child. But still a small email made a difference and it brought back the memories. I truly wish that everybody one day have to come together to relish those old Malgudi days!

Glance at Pongal Releases

Guru - Entering into AMC theatre makes you to feel at bigger Sathyam theatre in Chennai. The theatre has 30 units to screen and spacious enough to withstand full crowd. It was a snowy weekend where I could see 30 people for those 30 theatres:-) There were several speculations on the movie Guru as it’s a biography of Dhirubhai Ambani, Reliance Industries. Finally Mani has showed up the screens his version. There were also the several hypes as Manirathnam movie hit the screen after sometime now which is said to be usual. Can we say Guru as one of his best movie? I am not quiet sure to answer it. But still feel that he has fulfilled the expectations. The movie energizes at its completion and makes you to know about this tycoon of India. What can I comment on Manirathnam, he has done his work and seen that it marks his style. The person who has to be appreciated is Abhishek Bachan and I can see remarkable improvement in his action. When watched Dhoom II, I just thought that he survives due to the goodwill of his father. But here definitely the body language is appreciable and has done his part well. Aishwarya and all others have done their supporting roles to their best they can. The song picturization which one would expect in Mani + Rajiv combination as a grand one was naive in the movie. A.R.Rahman sits top of everyone with a commanding voice.

Thaamirabharani - Yet another movie from the masala factory of Hari. The composition is well mixed and presented in a pleasing manner. Hari once again has done his standardized format of presentation but is successful to cover up the mass. Yup! the movie tops the pongal release of Tamil movies according to me. Comedy, action, sentiments and drama are mixed in right proportions and enjoyable to watch. Vishal, watch him he is climbing the stairs of mass hero silently and steadily. Prabhu is choosing his right roles at his age and not attempting to do the main hero role which is a positive move. He is providing the way to the young stars and sidelining himself in character roles still being the center of movie. Nadhiya, I think still can come one round as heroine. A good family entertainer and will run at rural areas with packed houses.

Pokiri - Control + C pixel by pixel from Telugu version still marks its presence. As I said before here, this will be a 100 days movie for Vijay as this is a movie for himself with mass attractions stuff. Prabhu deva debut movie as director in Tamil doesn't have to think much as he has the original version in hand. He can be evaluated only on his own script and play in future. Vijay, neither improvements nor disappointments to his fans. A full meal for them to enjoy every bit. Asin, her beauty has increased in multiples every movie I watch. From Ullam Ketkume to here, just a long breathe by me. Vadivelu its time to pack your old styles and people get bored from the same stuff you provide in each movie. Except for the Gajini song joke, your presence is just a break for smokers. Prakash Raj has done his role with his usual traits yet to his level pissing in pants was bit awkward. First time watchers would enjoy 100 percent and of course do Vijay's fans.

Alwar – “Yapa thangave mudiala”! This movie if taken in 1980 would have been a massive hit. Ajith is back to his usual looks but yet disappointing in selecting his movies. Taking avatars to kill his enemies would be better suited for Vijayakanth not for Ajith. Rejecting Naan kaduvul by Bala due to various reasons is a blunder made by him. If he still continuous to with these stereotypes and think Vijay as his fellow to beat then his equations might completely go wrong. The movie has Ajith, Vivek, Asin and many others but makes no impact as the story line and play are weak. Sella, debut director from S.J Surya group, no comments to say. An ordinary movie with big casts in its cards.

Seattle Times

I visited Seattle last week for an official purpose. Seattle was worse than Chicago in terms of climate. Seattle had heavy snow showers and roads were slippery. It seems after many years its facing this change in its nature. Anyways most of the transport wore chains to its tires for more friction and causing sound pollution:-( The public transport is the one which I like in Seattle and miss in Chicago.

I like to travel, visit new places and meet new people. What I don’t like is the preparation to travel and settling down after coming back. It includes booking tickets\accommodation, packing and then washing\ironing after coming back. The most irritating part is two things one is the air travel where you are tied for couple of hours and ironing of the washed clothes after coming back. God save me from these!!

I had lots of fun with new people and enjoyed staying at my friend's place. My friend had got a new projector and it’s like watching a movie at Devi Bala theatre in Chennai. The experience of monster screen at home is different and exciting. After buying such a projector there is no necessity to hit the theatres. A little patience is needed for the movie to be available online and that’s it you would be entertained with more comfort than in theatre. A good item to be bought by each of the frequent cine goers\lovers.

While returning back took a cab from my friend's place to the Seattle airport as snow showers were present. It was hard to drive in those circumstances. Luckily got a cab and was speaking to the cab driver. He asked me are you in IT and when I said yes, he started speaking his good old memories. Actually he was a main frame programmer in his early years and now he wants to get back to this industry. It sounded interesting and gave him some tips [Gosh…don’t laugh]. When I was about to get down, he just thanked me in a very friendly manner. I just realized what all I have been saying in Para II above, seems to be nothing when people struggle for their days bread!!

Yet Another !
