I met her in Chicago!

I am here in Chicago for quite some time. During the mid of November one day I was just coming back from office. I was bit tired and was just feeble. Suddenly she came in a flash. I saw her for the first time. I couldn't resist myself and was feeling glad. This was my first experience to see her. As days passed by I started seeing her frequently. Slowly my relation started with her and met her day-after-day. I started to touch her and slowly it became a regular habit. In Tamil there is a quote "Aasai arubathu naal, mogam mupathu naal". This was true in her case. My body started giving troubles due to the relation with her and I was feeling comfortless. Slowly I started to avoid her and totally hated her. Whenever I see her on a day, I just feel depressed. I totally neglect her and concealed myself inside four walls. Nowadays I meet her more often but I am helpless to neglect her completely. Do you want to know her identity? Just highlight the next line with your cursor, she would be visible. Her name is SNOW :-)

Toothpick

Podcasting, the teckie word I see quite often in many blogs that I read. So, decided to know the exact definition of this new unit of language for me. I searched the online knowledge repository - wikipedia. Got to read about the technology and traveled through the links from there and refreshed with other common terminologies. Handful of pointers down with a small introduction of their definition for the newbie's around.

Podcast -> A pod cast is simply a web feed of audio files that is placed on the Internet for anyone to download. Read more about the Mechanics, podcatchers…here.

Web syndication -> Web syndication is a form of syndication in which a section of a website is made available for other sites to use.

RSS -> RSS is a family of XML files formats for Web syndication used by news websites and web logs. The abbreviation is used to refer to Really Simple Syndication.

Web 2.0 -> The term "Web 2.0" refers to what some people see as a second phase of development of the World Wide Web, including its architecture and its applications. A transition of websites from isolated information silos to sources of content and functionality, thus becoming a computing platform serving web applications to end users.

AJAX -> Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, or Ajax, is a web development technique for creating interactive web applications using a combination of XHTML (or HTML) and CSS for marking up and styling information.

Ironical to the above, read a post on the Chennai underworld [via Dabbler] in Narain's Tamil blog. The post was very realistic and replicates what I had seen around the place I live in Chennai. I too had seen many weird scenes of these so called dadas' around my area. As my area was very close to the place, where ex-up-don of the Chennai lived.

I still recollect the incident that took place just opposite to my home. I was around 12 years and this particular incident still never vanished from my thoughts. There was chaos and loud voices of people outside. I ran to the balcony to check out the happenings. I saw a man running into one of the shop and a group of people chasing him. They all went inside the shop and there was a loud shout from inside the shop. The whole shop was smashed by the gangsters. After some time the person who ran inside came out with a single hand, the other hand was cut off by the bunch of atrocious people. The shop owner was in a pathetic state. His shop was ruined totally; the shop was full of blood and also has to wander around the police station and court for sometime. For a moment, I was shaken a bit. Still I can visualize the scenes that happened and cannot forget it easily.

Back Fire :-(

It’s a sin of being and continuing as a vegetarian living in US of A. You have vegetable food available but don't have many varieties except in Indian restaurants. Most of the vegetarian food available here are with bread and as a south Indian, I do not take this much in quantity of this square white item.

Recently, I visited to one of the Italian restaurants in Chicago for lunch. I ordered for a vegetable salad and heap of chopped vegetables [some of which I am still searching their names] was put in a bowl and kept in front. I do admit that the vegetable salad is nutritious and healthier food. Also, the taste wasn't that bad. But when eating some of the leaves given in the salad, thought that my entire mom curse is coming true. I used to demand a variety in food with excellent taste at home. I cannot resist a small composition of change in the taste of the food. If something goes wrong either Saravana Bhavan or a Rathna Cafe parcel has to nullify the less taste food that’s prepared. Also, several times yelling at my mom saying see others house, they prepare dozen of food items for each time with better taste. I think all her whammy, making me to struggle to eat good items as well as with self cooking. Thought for a moment that my mom coming next to me and saying "Dei konjam uppo kamiya potta enna sound viduve, ippa paru aadu sapidratha ellam sapidra". But I know truly she won't say this!

Life,,, Experience...

You are having something with you. But the current thing seems to you as nothing. You wonder about big things seen around you but not able to get it. You dream about it. You tend to neglect or give the least importance to the current precious thing you have already. When your thing that you dreamt comes near your sight, you feel an odd person and think yourself not a person for the big thing. After some time you get a chance to move around all the big things you used to dream. Now it becomes very common for you. You feel comfortable in all those big things. You feel you are one among the group of the big things you dreamt.

Finally, realize that what you had before is the precious thing and missed to understand the meaning of it. This comes out after you are experienced.

Life is a great teacher. Vanakam Vadhiyare!

Modern Thathuvams

Seems like the thathuvam for the day is catching up in and out of the electronic mail boxes. Wondering how this trend started. Most recent days, my mail box receives in an average 3 per week, excluding repeat forwards.

Some were really witty. Check out some the sample thavums below that I got recently:

India, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, America, Japan, Europe...the list continues, ore para parapu. Dudes, what do you think, is it NIJAM pakku ad. No, not at all. Just 2-3 photos of a movie have created such a thunder storm around the world. Most of the internet information today, is flooded with these photos, rumors, own stories, information about the film. Most of the mails, I received today has some connection on this movie. Most of the persons, I met today asked me at least "Photo super illa...” If such an impact a movie-still can make, I am just wondering myself.

He would act after a year or 5 years, but still the enthusiasm and the expectation only doubles or triples. Exceptions around the world get this sort of attention. He is such an exception, I believe and admire.

Though the main still wearing jeans and a white shirt is appealing and conveys what it has to. I personally like the one with dark green kurtha. Oh my goodness! Is he Rajini or brother of Dhanush?

THE BOSS is on, let us wait and watch the work of a fabulous team. In very rare situations, you would get to see such combinations as a team. It’s like picking the best specialist in different areas and forming a cricket team.

India 2060

Florida, May 02, 2061: Steve met Jenny in a hotel and told that he had got an interview scheduled today at Indian embassy for IH1 visa. Jenny congratulated and asked what happened to her dependent visa interview. He said it’s after 2 days from his date. He said finally after 2 years of waiting time, they have got the dates. He said his friend Rocastrio has already left to the aluminum valley Chennai as software consultant to Munusamy solutions Inc. He is earning 5ooo INR as his monthly salary and it is equal to 250000 USD. Steve said that his company has fixed him for a monthly salary of 6000 INR. Jenny hearing this was very happy and they went back home after the candle light dinner.

Both of them finished their interview and got their visa stamped. Steve booked the tickets in Chennai airlines to land at the aluminum valley. He had got a job at Velu solutions Inc. and his client place was Ambica appalam depot. He was in charge of developing a software solution for his client to get the sales and their revenue reports in various dimensions. He and his wife caught the flight and landed safely at Chennai airport, the world’s second busiest international airport. He had taken all the cool clothes like transparent shirts with many holes in it and many shorts to keep him cool in the hot climate.

After getting out into the land of opportunities, he was very happy and delighted. He walked in search of hotel for his stay. He said to Jenny with in 15 days, he needs to search for an apartment in the outskirts of Chennai as it is very costly to get a house with in the city. They both got into a taxi and were amazed by seeing the tall buildings hitting the sky. They were wondering about the neat roads and the terrific but disciplined traffic. They then got a room in Extended Stay India hotel. After visiting to the famous beach, they then shopped at T.Nagar after getting an appointment at 6.00pm. They had to wait for their shopping time for 5 hours and allowed time was 20 minutes. They then got some of the top selling brands of sarees and some pants for him. When they were inside a shop, Steve met one of his old friends, who was shopping at the same time. Then after they completed their shopping Steve and his friend family went to an restaurant for dinner.

His friend Allen, who was a red card holder and was working for the State Electricity board as Program manager, was surprised to meet Steve. Steve then told about his job and his client place. Allen said to Steve, it’s a golden opportunity for him. If you perform well at your client place then you will end up in getting the red card soon. He also said, if you get to stay here you will get the best of everything. Only thing in initial stage you need to get your credit points. After that you can take loan from any of the local banks and own an apartment. Jenny and Allen’s wife Susan were discussing about the house hold items. Susan said to Jenny that to get all the house hold items Thalai-mart is the best place to go. It’s cheap and has everything. After chatting more they left from the place exchanging their contact information.

First day at office, Steve was bit nervous. He had to meet his project manager Kabali. The project manager called him to his room and said look Steve this is one of our prestigious projects and has to be executed without any failure. Already we have done such a project to Krishna sweets and it’s successfully executed. One of your project members Arnold has been in the Krishna sweets project and you can take his support. Steve went out from his office to go to his client place with confidence and positive in his mind.

Dudes, you would be wondering what’s all this, what happened to narsidude. Recently happen to read some of the science fiction stories of Shujata. I enjoyed reading it and so wanted to try out something similar. That’s the result above. I know that I can't be as him. But just a simple try. In Mudhalvan movie, Arjun says like "Namalum veshtiya madichu katti samyal panuvom, athuvum nalla varum ana athey daily panna mudiyathu". The same point here too. I just tried to put my hands on it. Hope you all like it.

Chicago Times

Yesterday, I went to some part of India & came back in couple of hours. Hey, surprised!! I went to Devon Street in Chicago. It can be called as Asian market place. I was able to see lot of Indian, Pakistan & some European shops. My friends have said before several times when I was here, that Devon Street is like our Indian market place. I felt like it’s almost like our T.Nagar shopping area but bit mixed up with other markets & less crowded.

Hooooo.. Just roamed in those streets & entered into most of the shops & did the so called Window shopping. I was enjoying myself, the pirated version of Indian market inch by inch. I was able to pick lots of emundi bagunara, oye kesa hai & some ennanga nalla irukeengala. After tiresome roaming, went into an Indian chat corner. Had nice bhels & samosa. Enjoyed the Indian chats after a break.

I wanted to drink water, but there wasn't a cup around. So just called a person & asked him for water cup. He just showed me the way again to the water area. I said cup…cup loudly again. But he showed me the same way again. I thought he doesn’t understand my language. So I showed him all Mundram perai acting to get a cup. Finally, he came along & showed me a hollow steel kind of pipe holding cups & fixed to the wall. I was bit embarrassed & cursed myself for my ignorance. With guilt feeling took the cup to drink.

It was time to leave, so started moving towards the parking lot. I was able to see some people begging for $. I haven't seen any one as such till now. Something itched me inside my mind, when I was leaving the place.

(P.S. :- Oruthar nala ennakulla irukum thamizh kalainyan alert agitu varaan. Amam soliputten!!)

Bachelors Paradise

Hey if you are a bachelor & do not know the ABCD of cooking & had to stay for sometime in US & you are pure vegetarian & come from southern part of Tamilnadu & have 4 foot long of tongue [Naaku naalu moyam pa] & can't eat main course without proper side dish, here is a vara prasadam. Appa how many & clauses in the before sentence, thalai ellam suthuthu.

Might be it had been for long time, but I started using recently. It’s very simple to prepare this ready made masala dosai. Addl. piece is it comes with the coconut chutney :-). Just need to work for 5 minutes on microwave [each item a minute including the chutney], hot 4 masala dosai with getty chutney is ready for your munch. Hmm…enjoy the food.

Rush in to your nearest Indian stores. Ennapa ithu sale pitch in madhiri iruku!!

(P.S.:- Ennada ivan Suda Suda Bajji kran, ippa Masala Dosai kranu thonuthu illa, ennapa panrathu nammalukum Naaku naalu moyam pa :-) )

Neyyar Virupam

Due to heavy pressure from many of narsidudes' global audience [joke of the year ;-)], he has switched over to a different background color. Hope it suits & liked by the readers.

Ennapa Panrathu Makkal Theerpae Magesan Theerupu!!

Suda Suda Bajji

You would be wondering for the title. Bajji after cooking, immediately when you have with chutney with the hot smoke moving around it, that too in this type of climate in Chicago. Hmm..Sorgam inga thaan. Similarly, just now I watched Ponniyin Selvan & writing this post. Just to add masala, hooked up this title.

The movie Ponniyin Selvan has the ingredients of Ravi Krishna, Gopika, Praksh Raj, Revathy, music by Vidhyasagar and directed by Radha Mohan. The movie is a soft drama, which I personally enjoyed. The movie is bit slow at times but the director has managed to play well & make the audience to feel "what next?” There are 2 fights & one song, which completely do not fit in the movie. But the director is not to be blamed. Truly you can see it was the pressure on him to add the commercial items. Except these, the movie is natural & very soft. It’s a movie which you can watch once at leisure.

Radha Mohan after an appreciable debut knock in Azhagiya Theeyae has once again proved his way of story telling. There are certain places where you tend to be reckless. But still the movie makes the audience to sit & watch for the next sequence. Radha Mohan can fasten up his screen play with more interesting sequences in his upcoming projects & would definitely have a clear way ahead.

Ravi Krishna has done his role quite well. But still he has to improve a lot in his body movements. He seems to be very stiff when walking & dancing. The scope for him in the movie is huge & could have utilized even better. But still one cannot completely ignore his contributions. Lot of home work is to be done when given such a character. Since, the movie completely revolves on him.

Gopika, what should I say about her? Just I was watching her with eyes wide-wide open. She is pretty & looks cute in the movie. For the given character she has performed well & clearly understood her boundaries. She is improving day by day. Do you think, I was mentioning here about her acting? After watching her in “Kana Kanden”, I am watching her in this movie. I did not have much idea when she acted in “Biograph sorry Autograph”. Then in “4 Students”, I noticed that she dances well in the famous Jassie Gifts' "Lajja vathiye". In “Kana kanden” she improved in her way of acting. Here she has improved her face value. Like Bharathiraja says in his intro speech of his movies, I can say "En keralathu payingeeleye!" I can understand dudes what you think. Only 4 lines are written about the hero but for heroine this many lines :-) Kanna "What you think is not what you get !!"

Prakash Raj, I think due to personal relationship with the director, he has accepted to do the role. I should say he had a better performing role in “Azhagiya Theeyae”.
Revathy & other crew have performed well as per their characterization. Music by Vidhayasagar, I am not very sure that he has given the same amount of his work in this movie as he did in Chandramukhi. I can hear some of the songs as heard some where before. Still not a bad piece from him.

A movie you can enjoy with your family. A soft, sweet & bit slow moving drama. Another good one from Radha Mohan.

Thappe Illai Thotuko Thappe Illai
ThAli ninna Vazhkaiyil Uppae Illai...

This song is from Mazhai, music rendered by Devi Sri Prasad. Am not going to dwell into the music of this song. Very much amazed by the gracious voice of SPB. This man has been singing all along all variety of songs till now. Still his magnifying voice is amazing. He is a legend & generations will remember his voice. His voice itself is like music.

That too from bottom of his throat when he starts the song ayyyye...oh my god I start to move here & there. His voice suits for yesteryears & today’s ‘heroes' of all languages. Especially an intro song with his fabulous voice for Rajini adds what is needed. I am truly surprised with the gods' gift to him. Long live SPB & continue his voice all along. Cheers :-) ayyyye..Thappe Illai Thotuko Thappe Illai!

Glint at Dharani

[Courtesy: indiaglitz]

Recently, I watched Ghilli starring Vijay, Prakash raj, Trisha & others, directed by Dharani. After watching the movie 4 things stayed in my mind. Vijays' action, Prakash rajs' performance, Vidhyasagars' Music & Dharanis' fast paced screen play. The fourth part leads me to scribble this post.

Director Dharani is known for his racy screenplay & commercial films. He has directed till now 4 movies Ethirium Pudhirum, Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli. The last 3 were super hits in kollywood. Though he has directed only 4 movies till now, he has gained a virtuous name in the list of tamil directors. The first movie Etirium Pudhirum did not go that well at box-office. The next one Dhill was a huge success & a good break for Vikram too after his career break movie Sethu.

If you look closer at his movies the portrayal of his hero would be very simple. The hero would be a normal guy & would do usual activities as any common man does. But the villain would be a strong & powerful person. When this mediocre hero dashes with the gigantic villains, the hero becomes even more powerful. This bottom line he has carried over all through his movies. Apart from this, the intelligent & fast paced screenplay adds the perfect combo for his films. In most of the tamil movies the hero clashes head-to-head with the villain gang with a big fight. But Dharani way of telling this is different. His hero uses clever ideas to attack the villain. This logical screen play has been one of the important part in his movies & has proved worthy for him. If you see in Dhill, the hero uses some common sense to make the villain fall. Similarly in Dhool & Ghilli, the way hero handles the villain is different & smart way of attacking. Though some places the logic slips but it works.

He also keeps good screen shots & nice back drop for needed scenes. Adding to this base he sums up with good comedy scenes, catchy songs & all other commercial items to make the film a grand finale. The comedy sequences in Dhill, Dhool & Ghilli are known & stays till now. Songs in his movies are mostly catchy & the way he projects altogether makes even better. With these vital things he adds the commercial items & provides the audience a perfect masala meal. This formula of Dharani had worked for him till now & will make him stay in the tamil film arena for more time.

Currently, he is directing a telugu movie Bhangaram starring Pavan Kalyan and produced by A.M.Ratnam. Like to see Dharani back soon to tamil cinema & give another commercial speedy masterpiece movie.

This particular song from Gajini, tops the list of my choice in recent times. I used to hear the "Thottu Thottu ennai Vetru-kali mannai Sirpamaaga..." from Kadhal "N" number of times. This song from Gajini like a maniac I hear daily many times repeatedly. I don't know how to express why I like these...But I enjoy a lot when I hear it. That's the magic music..hmm..hmm.

Return of the Dragon

Does the title sound like am going to write a post on a Bruce lee movie? No not at all. I do not want to repeat the title “A long...........................................break. Huh!!!” again. Once again after a big break, am holding the pen. But...before I start cribbing myself let me share something good.

Dudes, you will be wondering how come suddenly narsidude is in his new costumes. Pinch me for the new one. The reason for it is...wait again let me wish something good.

"BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES
NARSIDUDE:-)"

Last year 8th of this month, a new baby born with twinkling stars in it. The first food was fed to this new born baby on this day. Like small kids wearing new clothes on this occasion, narsidude has entered with its new appearance.

I need to specially thank Robot of
Lazygeek.net for motivating me to start a blog & scribble something. May be I haven't done much at this point, but it had added an essence in me. Thanks once again Mr.Lazygeek for helping me to kick off this blog & also the writer in me [ha ha good joke!].

Due to my incapability of time management, I had to take many breaks like this. I used & do envy other bloggers who constantly update their blogs. But it’s all in the mind. Hope that I don't take many breaks in future.

After a month of stay in India, I am back to Chicago in my official assignment. The irritating part is, these Show time channels. Many movies that I saw a month ago is still been telecasted again. Naama KTV thousands time better ;-)

Dudes more posts on Chicago in the upcoming days. Over to Chicago.

Mini-tour in & around Chicago

I had planned last week to visit the downtown of Chicago. I need to catch the 9:00 am local train which goes to the Chicago Union station. So, I need to get a cab around 8:40 am to reach the station. But as usual got up late & in full tension rushed to station at 9:10 am. The tension is because only for each hour there is a train. But luckily the train came at 9:15 am only. So, just sat back & started enjoying my journey. One thing I liked in the local train is for every station, there is a voice indicating the station nearing by & also the next station. So it's unlike as in our Chennai trains, where each passenger has to peep in & out or ask the other passengers what's the next station & get ready. Also the neatness does matter. Reached the Union station in an hour. I just wanted to get out & immediately see the place. The station where local trains arrive is like our Chennai Airport. Oh my goodness, there is a mini spencer plaza inside. Everywhere fastfood centers, shopping malls.

I came out of the station & just got surprised. Is the height of the sky is lower in this place or the buildings are reaching the sky? I can see many buildings just piercing the clouds & wants to look into the sky to know whats happening inside. Yes, the buildings in the place rocks. I went mad & started walking towards my unknown destination. Just wondered everything. In tamil they say like pattikattan patanatha pakara madhiri! I just roamed the city till my legs were tired. I saw the lake with few boats. Immediately enquired near by & got the reply that they are boat rides for touring the city. Felt like going & searched for the booking center. But I need to wait for an hour for the next ride. So I planned to go to lunch in the available time. I searched for Pizza hut, so that I can get some veg. stuff. But finally ended at the Subway. Had a foot long of veg. patty. Its not bad but it was also not good. Just to fill the stomach & for a change you can eat it.

Then, I was back to the boating place, but luck wasn't in my side. Heavy showers started & I ran for a shelter. Decided to sit inside the boat & not the open upper side. I was already half drenched, when I boarded the boat. They had some covers to wear, so that people can sit in the open space & enjoy their ride amidst the showers. Jumped in to grab one & put it on me. It was like the nature is welcoming me to the place with its showers. I truely enjoyed the ride. Inch by Inch, I was watching the tour with wide open eyes. I was amazed & surprsied to see some of the buildings. Seriously, I got slight neck pain after seeing those tall buildings.

The boat ride ended up & again I started roaming the place. But couldn't walk much after sometime. I was tired & also I was totally drenched. So, wanted to get back. It was already 4:30 pm & so, started walking towards the station. But the train scheduled to my place was at 5:35 pm. So got inside the Mc Donalds fast food to get refreshed. I was surprised to see people who are like some sumo wrestlers & still getting super size pack of french fires & all kinds of fat stuffed food. I was thinking they are going to burst one day soon. Got my train & came back with full satisfaction. It was really a nice trip that I enjoyed in the sands of United States of America.

Moments that stay long!

It was time for me to pack the things & start towards Chennai airport. I had good dinner with my pals & relatives of mine. Everything was done. I got ready & got into one of my friend's car. My parents & relatives got into another cab. The journey started there. I was not feeling anything. I just spoke with my friends & as usual their advice on the trip. Blah..blah.. blah. Once, I entered into the airport, I could sense something was itching me inside. In my subconscious mind something was tickling. I was unable to express those in words. I had been to the same airport for send-off & receiving many of my known people. The same place looked now different to me. I have seen many people known to me when they come to send off their pals. There was some emotional scenes going around. I couldn't understand that at those times. I used to wonder myself whats happening!

I started to go inside the airport to check in. Then too I did not have anything in my mind. I was just laughing & speaking to all of them who have come for my send-off. I finished all the procedures. Finally, I had almost an hour for the embarkation. So, I was speaking to my parents, relatives & friends. Slowly something was eating my head. I was unable to express my people what I feel. I just stood, stood, stood.. They too did not speak much after that. They were also just seeing me. Both were not talking but we were talking through our senses. I could see my parents & talk to them through eyes. It was a kind of feeling that I never experienced to this extend. Once it was time for me I said bye to them. I started walking towards the security, but turned back once to see them again & say them bye. They were just stand still & they too were waiting for me for turning back. I just moved & stood in the line. I was in my line but my eyes were searching them. Where are they? Have they left? These questions were hitting in my mind. Once I finished the embarkation procedures, I was able to see some phones in that place. You can talk to your near & dear for 3 mins. I just dialled the number & said I am done & going into the airbus. They said we haven't left the place & we are waiting to see your flight take off.

we were on the same building but it sensed me as if I am very far from them. Then after that zoom... take off. These moments stay long in my mind always.

A long...........................................break. Huh!!!

[Chicago]
Dudes, its been a long break for me. Nearly a month break from the great blog world. This gap is due to my official travel to Chicago. I can feel the heat from my readers. I can hear sometimes, what is narsidude doing? Is he going to continue blogging or not? Apologize me for taking this long break.

[Wal-Mart inside view]
Life here at Chicago is good. It's a great place to live. Last week went to Wal-Mart shopping place. Its one of the hot shopping place in U.S. I just roamed about here & there like I used to roam at our T.Nagar. A part of T.Nagar inside a building is what a walmart looks like. You can get A-Z items from this huge shopping center. Just you need lot of the green coloured papers in your pockets.

The roads here are clean & long. Here no digging for a single telephone line. Everything is planned & executed with future in mind. Sounds good. But if it happens in India, it will be sounding more great.

Sometimes I do read the Indian reporter paper which I can take free when I go to an Indian store here. The paper focusses on the Indians' at U.S. Also, information about the Indian Cinema, Sports. Tend to concentrate more on these stuff. Thinking if I don't then when I go back I will be one step behind. But unable to get newspapers on the great Tamilnadu. For a person who read lots of Ananda vikadan, Kumudam, Junior Vikadan, Kumudam Reporter & of course Dhina Dhanthi stuff... as a hard copy, miss that here.

Here in show time channels, movies are continously screened like our KTV. Atleast KTV sometimes plays Comedy shows. Here no way except movies & ads. I liked the Paycheck, Art of War, Fahrenheit 9/11 & many movies which I missed to see their titles. But some movies are really crap & hate to see, when played repeatedly in the channel. More news on Chicago in the upcoming days.

Chennai is HOT*

Chennai is hot. The heat is too much & makes difficult to be on roads. At the same time Chennai becomes hot by the improvized features.

Two news thats going to be a beneficiary one to the people in & around Chennai.

  • The new blocks of the Government General Hospital in the city.
  • Private mini-bus services in Chennai.
The new Look of Government General Hospital

[Courtesy : Hindu.com]

Recently, when I was riding back to my home from Central railway station got stunned after seeing the building & thought have they moved the Tidel Park near Central? But its the new building of Government General Hospital. I haven't visited inside the premises but the look is too good. Read more here.

Another good news is that Private mini-bus services are going to be operated in Chennai. The State Government has decided to allow nearly 500 mini buses to operate outside the city Corporation limit. Its a welcome decision, as many people are travelling for work in & out of the city limits. During odd hours it makes difficult to get the route bus immediately. Read more here.

Week-End Tit-bits

Weekly Magazines

This week Rajini is featuring in all top 3 tamil weekly magazines. Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam & Kungumam. In Ananda Vikatan, it's a travelogue of his trip to Babaji caves. The cover story is in a series & more are yet to come. This week in the cover story three things were good. One is a short story that Rajini likes the most. The story is, once a king wanted to give a gift to god, that god doesn't have with him. But he thinks that everything in the world is his make. Then, what gift can a man give to god. Finally, he finds one that god doesn't have. It's ignorance that we human beings have. The king is kamban.

Second is Rajini when asked about his fans. He says that he keeps his fans at mother's place. Mother gives many things to her child. But the child gives back only a smile which gives the mother immense pleasure & happiness. Basha, Padayappa, Chandramukhi are those smiles that he gave back to his fans. The third one is Rajini recollects once when Sujatha asks him that he has won great heights. When he looks back, to what he would attribute his success. Whether it is god's blessings, talent, luck or hard work? Rajini replies as its all gods blessings. Without his blessing he couldn't come up this big. But as Sivajirao when he left his job & searched for acting opportunities in Chennai, they were his constant tries. Whenever he gets a chance, he tried to prove it. This was his hard work. The dream he always has that one day he would win. This was his confidence & belief. When he tried to entertain the people, it his talent.

In Kumudam he has given exclusive interview. In the interview he speaks about the recent success of Chandramukhi, his plans for next movie & recollects his past. One thing stuck in my mind. The same Rajini after Baba was totally disappeared from media. Gossips about him were there. Now he is back for his second innings. Let him do great films & exhibit fully the actor in him.

Movies

Arunachalam

The movie does not have very strong storyline. But still the screenplay was good enough to keep up the pace & of course Rajini, the man who droved the entire film single handedly. The movie starts in village base & moves to city. When he says, "En nanbargal ellarryum kizha vitturuken. Mavane ne ethachu galata panna kizha vitta nanbargal ellarayum mela vitrven" shines well in comedy. Senthil, Janakarj also had supported well. The movie is a good entertainer. Rajini was too good when he says "Varata..." & also to Jayshankar "Meenakshi import & export....One of the big business man Mr.Vedachalam. Avaraoda ore payan Nan than". The dual Rajini who comes as his father for 15 minutes fills our mind.

Arindum Ariyamalum

The movie is about expressing the relational bonding between a father, who is a local don & his son who is a student. PrakashRaj, Arya, Navdeep, "Fivestar" Krishna are the casts, directed by Vishnuvardhan. The movie screenplay is excellent. Lots of unexpected twists is the key point in the screenplay. A special mention has to be made to Arya. He has done excellently in his Chennai based dialogue deliveries. The body language & his face expressions are good. If he can improvise the dance movements, then he has a long way in Kollywood. Prakash raj as expected steals the show in most of the scenes. In the scenes, where he expresses his affection to his son were applausive. Navdeep, the hero has done a good job. He fits into the character & never overdosed it. "Fivestar" Krishna fills the comedy track & never let down the director for his selection. The music is scored by Yuvan Shankar. The background scores are good & three songs were appreciable. It's a good movie to watch & a summer entertainer.

Thalapathy

Should I say anything about this movie? Simply superb that's it...

You might be wondering, Ennda intha postla Rajini factor is more. Illapa sathiyama namma media fulla avruthan irukaru. TV channels telecast at least one of his movies as week-end specials. Nan enna panrathu?

Reminisce

In the film Mudalvan, the hero's father would say "Vazhkailium VCR madhiri oru rewind button irundhal evalavo nalla irukum". We in this fast pace world are too busy. We do not provide sufficient time for ourself. Almost everyone have aspirations & work towards that to grow more. But in this period of growing, we sometimes lose our own nature. When someone gets a chance of seeing others doing what they like too or seeing things that they have done in their past, they relish. You might be wondering ennada Mudalvan dialoguekum intha lineskum enna relation. Coming..Coming..!

Last week after a long day at office, got to take my sister's son to my home for his weekend mela. Sometimes, I used to speak with him about intellectual stuff. So that he will get to know some new things & think me as brilliant guy [Ha..Ha..]. During our ride, I was explaining him about gravitational force & how it works [Arambichutayan...Arambichutan!]. I was explaining him from what is force & slowly what is gravitational force. The moment I said about it, he immediately looked back & asked me then how do airplane fly? The response was quick & valid. Now days these children are very sharp [Grr....]. Then, I told him the reason [Eppa neenga ellam enna reason kekathinga..]. On the way he used to comment on the things that he sees in his own way. I was enjoying the ride with him at the same time recollecting my past. After going home he told his grandmother "intha mama color colora reel vedran". I just started laughing.

I had this particular thought flashing, during our childhood days we did not have all these grown up nut things. Like tensions, frustrations, jealous, worries... I know its part of life. But as in the above Mudalvan dialogue if we can do then it's a great pleasure for each one. Do you agree with me or not?

Parkamal Irundhale Paravasam

Mr.'X' is a person who is One film hero cum doctor by profession. He marries Miss. 'Y' due to family coercions. 'X' had an affair in his college days with 'Z' girl. 'Y' who is the wife of Mr.'X' got to know this & wants divorce from 'X'. Then, Mr.'X' agrees to it. But 'K' who is periyappa to 'X' doesn't wants the divorce of 'X' & 'Y'. Since, he was the person who actually arranged the marriage of 'X' & 'Y'. In between Miss.'Q' who is working as nurse in Mr.'X' hospital loves him & wants to get married. Mr.'C' who is also a doctor loves Miss.'Q' & wants to marry her. 'A' who is the mother of Mr.'X' wants him to get married with Miss.'Q'. In between Mr. 'B' a dancer falls in love with 'Y' [Ex-wife of 'X']. But 'S', a girl who is relative of this 'B' is already in love with him. Finally, on the marriage occasion 'X', 'Y', 'Z', 'K', 'Q', 'C', 'A', 'B', 'S' all meet with some more characters like 'R', 'T', 'U' with several twists in the play and a background song ends up in an expected way.

Appa! Evelavu characters [not alphabets] with so many complications of relationships. This confusion stayed very long to me after seeing the movie Parthaley Paravasam in television recently. I swear I need to first congratulate & ask a question to Mr.Balachander how can he [only] manage with so much complex relationship screenplay. For me writing the above paragraph got me into obscure mind. Hats off to him. The only one jeevan who has done a great job in the movie is A.R.Rehman. But a single person success cannot bring glory to a work which needs team success. After watching the movie I got one thing in my mind that has come out as the title of this post ;-(

Kannadi Pookal

Before I watched the movie I didn't understand why they kept such an title. But after the movie was over only one thing was striking there cannot be a better movie title for the movie. It depicts what the movie is all about.

The story line is a boy who is the child of first wife & what he does when a new child born for the second wife of his father. The father marries the second wife after his first wife dies.

The story line is a usual one which all our tamil audience are familiar with. The screenplay has been done so well that you come out with a heavy heart. The movie is an emotional drama. Master Ashwin, Parthiban, Kaveri, Pyramid Natarajan are the casts & directed by Shajahan.

Parthiban without his usual double meaning dialogues has fitted the role. He has done this kind of emotional drama before in Azhagi. He has done well & fits into the character. In some scenes where his son would be accused & questioned in the court, the reaction Parthiban gives makes us to say "ada...". He has done a decent role.

Kaveri who has done as second wife to Parthiban has justified her role. The way she acts in the prison scene & also when she knows the truth for her child death were impressive. She can be a very good character artiste as her face fits for innocent characters.

Master Ashwin who is the central pillar of the movie, carries it well. Since, the movie is a malayalam remake, the way this boy speaks also remembers the parent language of the movie. But the performance shown by the boy is excellent. Think has a bright career ahead.

The director has to be appreciated for his excellent screenplay of this emotional drama. Yet the slow pace of the movie could be avoided. I hope the director rectifies & come out of a nice movie with emotional stuff next time. This movie would surely attract the ladies at 30-40. Since, it's easy for them to visualize the things. May be this movie wouldn't be a great at box-office. But it's a good one to watch.

Chandramukhi

[Courtesy: Chandramukhithefilm.com]

What if Sachin or Shewag scores a century without a single four or six. This feeling you get after seeing the movie Chandramukhi. Yes, Superstar Rajinikanth had performed so quiet & calm that you get the above feeling. The movie is good & enough to be a successful one. All the characters including Rajini's have been done well. The story of the movie is the hero & not Rajini. Rajini has performed as an character in the movie & no heroics with hsh..hsh sounds. He has done so calm, that only for 2-3 frames you can see the usual Rajini. After that he is yet another character in the movie. For fervid fans of Rajini, this movie wouldn't provide the enough stuff. They expect a lot more from Rajini. The heroism, Punch dialogues, villan clashes nothing of that sort. One major plus point is Rajini really looks young & smart. The costumes for him are excellent & looks pretty.

Another important person to be mentioned is Jothika. She has done a decent role & would be one of her career milestones. The comedy has come out well. But in some scenes light smell of double meaning jokes would peep up, which is unusal in Rajini movie. Every movie of Rajini starts with an intro song. But this time he has broken it, the movie starts with a fight sequence. May be due to long gap, Rajini did not have the usual grip & vibrant body language.

The zeal to watch a good movie would be satisfied. But a ardor to watch Rajini in action may not be fully satisfied. The expections for the movie is more & high on Rajini. May due to which you would come out with happiness on seeing a good movie but not the vivacious Rajini.

Each song has come out really good with nice camera works. The movie has come out well & its a great film to watch. The movie is for family audience. Though the movie is not Rajini centric, still after a long gap this movie would be a great one for him & his audience. One good thing is Rajini is back. This is a great news for his fans. Expecting a lot more & different roles from Rajini. lakalakalakalakala... ;-)

Chandramukhi

Chandramukhi, much awaited & a long gap movie from Rajini. In all the stills of the movie, our superstar is looking young & charming. The above photo is one of them. The movie has already started its vibrations. The promos are done by Tata Indicom. In Chennai city you can look out for Chandramukhi hoarding at every important junctions. Its hot machi ;-). Once again Rajini is under test to prove that he is the only superstar in tamil cinemas. Hope & wish that he does. The speech delivered by him in the music release function, shows that a hungry tiger is waiting for its big feast. As a superstar rasigan, waiting for the movie to hit the screen & be a grand successful one. For more chandramukhi photos click here.

RAAM

[Courtesy: Indiaglitz.com]

The movie Raam directed by Aamir is a movie that explains the mother-son affection in a different dimension. The castings are Jeeva as hero, Gajala as heroine, Saranya as hero's mother. The movie has been taken as a suspense thriller. Aamir the director of Mounam pesiyathe has proved once again his natural touch in the movie. The movie has the shadows of the movie Nanda. This may be due to the director has previously worked as a associate with director Bala. But then too the way the director had taken the movie is appreciable. There is no place that you feel bored. The screenplay shows that the director had done lot of preparation & homework.

The hero Jeeva has nothing to do with dialogue. Maximum he would have spoken a one-page script. But still he makes an impression in your mind. The body language & his action are good. He has lot of scope to improve in other areas. The next cast in the movie who really needs a pat is Vazhavandhan. The person who has done the character is a new face but has done extremely good with his sharp dialogue deliveries. He has performed as a comedian in the movie & has exhibited his Madurai slang with his dialogues in proper proportions. All other casts have done their jobs properly.

The music is by Yuvan Shankar raja. The tunes & the background scores are excellent. The music & the cinematography have been very good supporting feature's for the success of the movie. The movie may not have new storyline but the way it has been taken is good & needs applause.

About Tamil Movies - Latest

This post is not a review of any movie. I just want to place my thoughts about the recent tamil movies that I watched. Thirupachi, Ayya, Aayudham, Ji are some of the movies that I watched. Each movie tried to project only the hero but not the story. This is my personal opinion about these movies. A good movie should have strong story base with good screenplay. An hero must be the character of the story. But these movies cast the hero as story of their movie.

Recently, in television I watched Dhavani Kanavugal & Unnal Mudium Thambi. The story line of these movies may be simple but strong screenplay & characterization made the movie successful & memorable. Latest movie Kadhal not having big star value still, made a successful one. Story & screenplay is like foundation of a buliding & the interiors of the building are the star crew. Building cannot stand long if foundation is weak but have hi-fi interiors. Hope this formula is taken in tamil movies & provide a full good meal for the tamil film lovers who are hungry for a good movie.

Barefoot @ The PARK

Yesterday, It was a total different evening for me. I went for a movie at a star hotel - The Park . Hmm.. sounds different. Thanks to Guru Subramanian who took me over there. Evum productions is planning to take an english movie "Barefoot in the Park" into a play. So, they have screened the original movie as a part of marketing strategy & also reach to audience. The movie was comical & a good entertainer. But I am just wondering how these people are going to adapt in their play some of the sequences in the movie. Hoping to see their play now.

I also met some of the top bloggers in the show Kiruba, Chenthil, Chandrachoodan & of course the list includes Guru Subramanian. The hotel ambience was also too good & saturday night in chennai @ top hotel whoo.. When we were leaving the top bloggers were speaking to the organizers. Both of them were students studying in colleges. That time I was just thinking how these people are spending their time useful even during college days. Cursed myself about not doing any such activities. Anyways forget the past. Like in Mudalvan movie Raghuvaran says in the climax its mine now "It was a good evening..".

Achamillai, Achamillai

After a long day at office went home late & tired. During my late dinner, I was scrolling through the TV channels in search of a good show. Happen to see JAYA TV's Achamillai Achamillai show hosted by actress lakshmi. Thought it was a kind of talk show & problems that were faced by the individuals were discussed. But got a sound pinch. Yesterday, the show was bringing four young children into limelight who have extra-ordinary talents in them or developed over a period. Each one had something different at an very early age.

First one was Nirupama. She had not gone to school till now. When she was 3 years old, she had began to read all novels, poems and magazines. She had translated many books written in tamil to english. She said that once she went to a school for reading in the library. She completed reading the whole set of books available in the library in a couple of days & felt boring. Her parents were working in Mumbai. But they had left the job & packed their bags for starting a school in a village near Tiruvarur, offering free education.

Next one was Vishalini. She was 6-7 years old. It seems that she was having an IQ of 220. At this age, she was able to answer to questions in any subject area. It was told that when she was born the doctors had said that she may not speak. But to surprise she started to speak very early than normal babies do. She was continously exposed to various subjects by her mother. Her mother said that she used to read & show her all books available & she used to grasp it at very fast pace.

Next one was Sathyanarayana. He can play piano & violin at this age like an expert. He was able to bring the essence of carnatic music in piano which was said to be difficult. Recently, he had played a 3 hours show in Rani seethai hall in the hot december music season. At present his guru is Mr.Mandolin Srinivas.

Next was Sibisothan. He is a genius in maths. He was able to play with numbers at a very fast pace. Any addition or subtraction, he does it with ease. Also, he was able to draw different Magic squares of different varieties. He used to observe his grandfather playing with numbers & had grasped this talent. In the TV show he was asked to add many numbers continously & he did it just by waving the hands for each number that was said. The show was too good & different from the usual cinematic programs. I was stunned by the talents of the children. Amazing stuffs.

Year - 2004 ending with a tragedy !

Finally, after a long absence thought to post a note. This note is for two main reasons. One for the diaster - Tsunami & the next is for the end of the year-2004. Yes, I wish as the Year-2004 ends, the diaster happened makes a full stop here. I think many of the Indians including myself would have come to know the existense of this devil called Tsunami only after this sad happening. I am a resident near the beach. I was not directly under the attack of this devil. But the loss of lives had made me to think why there was no proper diaster recovery plan if such an incidents occur.

We take so many precautions in our lives. Our political parties move many things ahead thinking the elections after years. But why there is no such precautions in case of these diasters. We Indians generally have an attitude of raising things or putting down entirely. This continues for diasters, movies, sports, everywhere. One day if our cricket team wins a game we jump. Next time when they lose we immediately put them on ground. This is even for these diasters. Today, we will do all kinds of things but over time runs we would again forget & only we will bring this incident for statistical reporting that such an incident occured in December 2004. We need more people like Mohan Bhargav (a character in SWADES movie) who thinks & works out for the development of our country.

There are many other incidents that occured in the year-2004. Kumbakonam school tragedy, Kanchi seer arrest, Stamp paper scandal, MS subbalakshmi demise...... the list continues. I only hope & wish that let the Year-2005 light joy & peace in all our lives. Also, let us forget what had happened but see to that our mistakes do not repeat. I Pray god for prosperity in all our lives & welcome the Year-2005 ;-)
